    Fed up

Right well I have been testing a lot and have cut our my lunchtime bowl of broccolli soup, home made by frying small chopped onion, garlic, then adding bag frozen broccoli and stockpot, simmer and blend, tasty and low carb. I found my readings after lunch took a long time to go down. I now have...

Type 2 or Lada, really confused, need help!

Hi I was only pre diabetic when diagnosed have had normal hba1c's ever since low carbing but my fasting is sometimes pre diabetic. If I don't eat breakfast it definitely goes up so I'd put it down to the fasting in the morning,

    Fed up

I've been testing today and things are a lot better, fasting 5.4 then highest 1 hour after breakfast was 7.2 then all lower, my highest reading is always after breakfast. In hindsight I had an evening snack of nuts on Monday night as I was hungry. I think this might have impacted on the next...

    Fed up

Thanks @Ronancastled that's interesting. I'm going to call my gp to get an hba1c done now things have calmed down. I also think I'll monitor for a while and hope it's a one off.

    Fed up

@Daphnap yes it did come down to 7.3 after another hour. I was just shocked as when I tested when first diagnosed it never went that high. I never got 7.8 which is when I understand problems start.

    Fed up

My fasting was 5.8, fairly normal for me although my hba1c's have been from 32 to 35 I've never got to consistent normal fasting levels.

    Fed up

I've been low carbing for 11 years after being diagnosed pre diabetic. My bmi is 20, was always normal but higher normal at 24, I lost the weight when first diagnosed. My carb count is about 80gms a day but that's counting everything, including non carby green veg. I have a hiatis hernia so...

    Walking / excercise

Hmm, when I was first diagnosed prediabetic my blood sugar used to increase after running. In the end i stopped taking it around exercise as I liked running and didn't want to stop. I went straight onto a strict low carb diet. My gp said it was definitely genetic as I was not overweight at all...

    Tannith's views on reversing T2

@Tannith your blood vessels are damaged by high blood glucose levels, obviously it is a cumulative over time. For me, as I stated in an earlier post weight loss has no effect, even at a bmi of 18.5. So all I can do is keep my blood glucose as low as I can, which I've done successfully for 11...

    Tannith's views on reversing T2

I low carb as I have never had a bmi over 25 even at my pre diabetic diagnosis in 2009. I've got down to a bmi of 18.5 and still had my blood glucose go over 7.8 when eating a tiny amount of carbs and my fasting levels are pre diabetic still. So I stick at a bmi of 20 and low carb to keep my...

    Breakfast break

I have 250 gms unsweetened soya yoghurt plus 25 gms almonds for breakfast, takes me about 5 minutes to eat, doesn't increase my bg too much. Are you underweight? If so I'd eat more nuts. Sorry I've just read you don't like pain yoghurt, in which case just add a tiny bit of artificial sweetener...

    Diabeties v fibre

I have a maximum of 90 gms a of carbs a day but no problems with constipation. However my carbs are mostly made up of nuts, seeds and vegetables. I very rarely eat any obvious carbs, rice, pasta, for etc., I drink lots of tea and coffee, soya milk in coffee, dash of normal milk in tea.

    Celebrating real foods

Turkey breast bolognaise with courgettes roasted in lots of garlic and olive oil, much tastier than pasta. I've got an fillet of beef coming tonight from ocado, we will have it roasted with spinach, broccoli and some gravy, I don't bother to thicken the gravy, just meat juices and red wine...

    low carb foods ie bread

I go for either hi lo or livlife bread from waitrose, the hovis bread is double the carbs of those two so I wouldn't touch it.

    Breakfast ( for pre diabetic)

Thank you @SarahEN, I'll put chia and flaxseeds on my shopping list. There seems to be a supply issue with my soya yoghurt, none unsweetened available at tesco.
