    Can anyone tell me ...

For me personally I do not eat anything that takes me over 7 at any time. Even if I have a few beers at the weekend I do not go over 7 in fact with beer my BS drops as the liver prioritises the alcohol. I would avoid whatever carb is causing that kind of spike if at all possible. As an aside it...

Anyone stopped medication against Doc/nurses advice?

yes I have ditched statins and refused insulin. I went lo carb (keto at first) and sorted my hba1c down to 5.3%. What I would not do though is tell your health care team lies. Simply tell them what your doing, tell them what you expect to happen and ask for regular tests to track progress. this...

    Cholesterol advice please

An Iranian study found that the Friedwald equation used to calculate LDL (yes LDL is calculated and unless it states otherwise) is not accurate where the triglycerides are less than 1 or more than 4. This usually affects those on a poor diet or in your case most probably a lo carb diet. mine...

    Hard to believe!!!!

@Heretic1 For me, I smoke probably ten fags when I go to the pub every two or three weeks. I have been low carb for the past 15 months and am at a healthy weight. I go to the gym three times a week and at the weekends ride a motorcycle at 150mph (risk?) if on a track. The point your missing is...

Surgery trying to put me on Statins... Again!

My understanding is that the link between cholesterol and cvd was started in the 1950s by Ancel Keys seven nations study. This is now largely contested and the link fraudulently made by Mr. Keys. Read as much as you can about cholesterol especially lower cholesterol and females. Read as much as...

Why Do Diabetics Fail To Adhere To Dietary Regimes?

This questionnaire is truly appalling and will get a huge fail due to its judgmental nature:- Socioeconomic; lack of funds to purchase healthy choices.....assumes healthy choices are expensive. Lack of education or knowledge about diabetes...........assumes the diabetic is lacking in...

    Type 2 Reducing cholesterol naturally

you could try increasing your intake of soluble fibre. This should stimulate LDL receptors removing LDL from your system. Its something to do with bile salts and the liver, cant remember exactly but about 10 grams of this fibre should see a 5% reduction in LDL. Read a guy called Dr. Malcolm...

    Diabetes Reversal

hi, and yes I weight train 3 times per week as reducing my insulin resistance is an absolute priority in order to get the most from the insulin I produce. My initial goal for weight training was to bench press my own weight (down from an initial 108kilos to a now much healthier 80kilos) I can...

    Diabetes Reversal

Hi dbr10. The doctor is still probably a bit humble as, after a good 8 years of their (NHS) treatment my health was in serious decline and he advised me insulin was the next step. I did some research June 15 and decided upon LCHF and upon further research came of the statins much to the doctors...

    Diabetes Reversal

I personaly had no success with low fat or low gi foods as my BS response was always in double figures. Now LCHF my Hba1c has been 5.3% for about a year. Whilst this is in the normal range i'm happy to continue on 2 metformin a day for other health benefits other than my diabetes. Whether this...

    Exercise Advice

You do not give what your numbers are or what type of exercise so I will give you what happens to me. I wake up with a fasting level of around 6.2 which is possibly a dawn phenomena my Hba1c is always around 5.3%. Anyways when I resistance train in the morning in a fasted state my BS will rise...

    Noodles

I found the thicker ones they sell in the major supermarkets to be ok as well as the rice version. They are, as others have suggested a bit smelly and require a really good rinse. Whilst they are good on occasion spiralised veg and grated cauliflower are far superior in terms of flavour and...
