Al this hot weather ... too many hypos

Hi, ah ok I have a medtronic pump, but donellydogs and mushypeabrain - thanks for your comments. I don't use that option on my pump as I tend to eat very few carbs and never ever eat pizza - but will investigate anyway, thanks for the input.

So bleeping angry with my gp!!!!!!

Think you have two options - get your local chemist to supply you with say 1 pot of blood test strips and get them to send the bill to your gp surgery. Or ring your consultants secretary, their numbers are always available on websites etc, but explain the situation to him/her and he can...

Just got a diagnosis today so new and a bit shell shocked!

Hi, its very scary being diagnosed with diabetes whatever your age, symptoms or situation - the only thing I can say is that after having it for about 35 years there is so much more help and advice available now whether its by this forum, or your medical professionals or other websites. Its...

Hi, time to introduce myself it seems

Love the response of pinching a bit of someone's banana - know that feeling, but not such a fan of bananas, thankfully it seems. Impressed by your low bgs, Im going to give it another go I think based on your response. When I tried it before I had a whole load more hypoos etc, would guess in...

    Stress!!

Hi, would agree that actually if you're suffering stress perhaps there are other ways to de-stress and actually Im sure you're like most T1's they stress about having extra insulin and running high, means you cant do your job at all. The theory of finding other ways to destress is fine, but in...

    Stress!!

It's hard to say on stress really, as everyone is different. For me, if Im stressed my levels drop like anything with hardly any notice. So I work as a trainer, so I have to check before the training session that Im ok and that Im not going low, thankfully I can now do this easier with a sensor...

Hi, time to introduce myself it seems

Hi Robert, thanks for your message. Interesting to see that you're managing to do low-carbing on such a low amount. How do you do it other that successfully?!

Hi, time to introduce myself it seems

Thanks Loobles, yes things have really changed in the last few years - I remember those glass syringes you had to sterlise each night, oh yuk. I just wished my mum could have seen the changes happening - she was a nurse when I was first diagnosed 37 years ago and things have improved, but she...

Just got a sensor, great but a full time occupation

Ha, ha - I have to laugh at your initial sentiments about how non-diabetics just dont seem to see the fascination as I do. So great to hear its not just me :) Thanks for your post, I am smiling as I post his I am about to drive off to where I work, and know that If Im too low on the drive it...

Hi, time to introduce myself it seems

And there was me thinking I'd done all the set up instructions for this forum, it appears not. So Im a T1, using a medtronic pump and recently a sensor. The reason for registering was to get some really good feedback on the real life of living with T1 and to offer support to those needing...

Just got a sensor, great but a full time occupation

Hi Stefano, a good tip on the calibration thing. Glad I have the sensor I must be honest, but am just hoping that levels sort themselves out soon rather than the two/three hypos a day scenario right now. At least I now get warning when Im going low.

    Medtronic Enlite CGM Sensor

Hi, Ive recently got a medtronic transmitter and sensors to use, like in the last week or so. My reason for getting it is that I often dont have warnings of hypos etc, and as I do a lot of driving with a fairly stressful job I couldnt take any more risks. So the sensors are great they tell you...

Just got a sensor, great but a full time occupation

Hi, Ive just purchased a Medtronic transmitter and sensors for a month, no cheap price at about £600. Whilst the technology is great so you can track where you are at every minute of every day, I now feel like Im a diabetes 24 /7 every single day and that appears to be my only topic of...

Al this hot weather ... too many hypos

Hi Donellysdogs, thanks for your input, Ive been on a pump for 7 years so not a newbie to it all. And weirdly I never used to have this problem with the heat, but its just been the last 2 or 3 years. All rather odd and damm right annoying. Thanks for your comment mushypeabrain = not sure what...

Al this hot weather ... too many hypos

Hi all, I have to say I am pleased to hear that its going to be raining in my part of the country soon (West Sussex) as these extremely hot days are a nightmare for me. On average 2-3 hypos a day despite the fact Im dropping my pump levels by 10 or 20% - is anyone else having the same problem...

    Pumps and CGM - accuracy

Hi IHs, thanks for input and swift response. Ah I hadnt realised that there was such a problem with the freestyle, and I was told that it was the best on the market, it appears not from what you say. I shall do a search as you suggest, and very interesting to hear about the Dexcom as well...
