    Morning and night?????

Thank you for your responses. I think I read somewhere that the last reading at night should be higher (around 8.0) to avoid hypos during the night. Because of that I am eating something later to avoid hypos, but then my fasting levels are higher. Should I not be doing this?

    Morning and night?????

I can't believe 34 people have looked at my message, but no-one has responded. Is that because there IS no definite BS/BG level for fasting, and last thing at night?????

To Test or not to Test - that is the question.

Hi Ben. I would agree with everyone else, get the necessary bits and test yourself. I test myself first thing in the morning and two hours after meals, but I doubt whether you would have to do it that much. You can then eliminate what you find raises your blood sugar levels over time, which...

    Low carb heaven

My reply is going to seem quite lightweight after such profound responses - and I had only just realised that there were so many replies to my original question. I just wanted to say that so far I have had no problems at all from Avidlite - quite the opposite, they have been extremely helpful...

    Morning and night?????

I am low carbing and have got my BS down to a reasonable level. However, I would just like to check to see what would be the ideal BS fasting level, and the ideal pre-bedtime level for a Type 2 diabetic. Many thanks.

    Letting medics know

What do most of you do to "advertise" the fact that you have diabetes in the event of an accident or collapse? I was thinking about getting a bracelet, but can't find anything attractive. Would putting a notice in the photo space in my purse be enough? Any other ideas? A tattoo might be the...

    Bracelet

Hi folks. I am thinking about buying a bracelet that would indicate that I have diabetes. I would like something pretty though, and ideally in gold. Does anyone know where I could get something like this?

    Is this a hypo?

What actually happens to the body in a hypoglycemic attack?

    Is this a hypo?

Thanks folks. Since I've been low-carbing (I am evangelical about it now!!) I have had quite a few shaky periods, but I guess that is my body just getting used to it. It's quite a balancing act, isn't it??!!! BTW, I had a banana.

    Is this a hypo?

I have only recently got my BS levels under control, after levels that would be between 10 and 22. However, sometimes my levels will dip to 4 during the day, and I get what I would assume would be a hypo symptom - I get extremely shaky very quickly, with no other real symptoms. If I take...

    From "why me" to "whe-hey"!!!

Thank you all for your wonderful support. I have to say that the Avidlite company has been a real help, as I can now eat low carb pasta and rice (both taste no different from the high carb stuff) and the Atkins chocolate bars are lovely. With all the stuff they have available, I don't miss...

    From "why me" to "whe-hey"!!!

I'll have some blood tests next week, and will see if there are any adverse effects, but I feel great! Thanks for your support and encouragement.

    From "why me" to "whe-hey"!!!

Hi all. I would have put this up on Fergus's "Success Stories" but I see no-one has posted there for quite some time. I have been posting here for a while, mostly whingeing about being diabetic (Type 2 for around 8 years) and finding problems dealing with it (apologies for all those who had to...

    A delicate question

I am on my second week of low-carbing and have become evangelical about it!! Hope I can keep it up. Anyway, I am suffering an embarrassing side effect - wind!! Does anyone know if this just happens at the beginning, or is this something I (and those around me!!!) have to get used to???

    Vision reversal - weird!

Thanks everyone. It's the fact that my vision problems reversed in the space of week that was strange. It wasn't just getting older that caused the problem!!!

    Vision reversal - weird!

I have recently lowered my BS to relatively "normal" levels and have noticed quite a few favourable changes. But one thing is really strange - when my BS were high, I had difficulty with distance vision, everything was a bit fuzzy, whereas now my distance vision is much improved, but everything...

    A reluctant diabetic

Thank you both, I will send him the DESMOND details and hope he wakes up, as I have.

    A reluctant diabetic

I am a diabetic who has been in denial for years, but I've recently woken up and through low-carbing I have reduced my BS levels dramatically. My brother is also a diabetic, but due to almost non-existant advice from his doctor and his own reluctance to find out any information himself, he is...

    Low carb heaven

Hi all. I have discovered this amazing website - I may be speaking too soon, but this website offers all sorts of things low-carb. It could be the answer to my prayers. On the other hand, everything might taste of cardboard!! Does anyone know this website? http://avidlite.co.uk/

    Delayed reaction

Thanks Ken. I have been having the Wasa crackers for breakfast with the same sugar free jam before, and my BS has always been low up to now. I thought the net carbs for each cracker was about 4? I wasn't eating WeightWatchers biscuits, I was using their cream for my coffee. I just can eat...
