Is this a hypo?

I have only recently got my BS levels under control, after levels that would be between 10 and 22. However, sometimes my levels will dip to 4 during the day, and I get what I would assume would be a hypo symptom - I get extremely shaky very quickly, with no other real symptoms. If I take something high-carb - Coke, or fruit juice - the feeling will eventually go away, but it can take up to an hour before I feel OK again. Is this normal?

REcovering from hypos takes a number of minutes and if you have been used to high Bg, it will take longer

Hi Nannoo.

4 mmol/l is considered the 'floor' for Diabetics. If you drop below that it is Hypoglycaemic, not recommended ! You are correct in assuming that a quick acting sugary drink such as Coke, Lucozade or Glucose tabs will soon put your Bg levels back up to normal. It is advisable afterwards to eat something with a few carbs to level out your numbers. A small snack. Don't overdo it though or you will go the other way ??

Thanks folks. Since I've been low-carbing (I am evangelical about it now!!) I have had quite a few shaky periods, but I guess that is my body just getting used to it. It's quite a balancing act, isn't it??!!! BTW, I had a banana.
