    Milk ??

As I'm now carb counting I just wondered what other people do regarding drinking milk. The type I have is about 4.7 carbs per 100ml all of which are sugars. So what do you do ? Do you have a jab of bolus (quick acting) insulin or just no insulin because it's all sugar that will spike your...

    "Private" DN ???

Was just wondering if anybody sees a Diabetic Nurse NOT via the NHS ?? Does anybody pay for one "privately" like through BUPA or somebody like that ? My DN is just fine but I get the impression she is spread a bit thin and just doesn't have the time to look at my data as much as I would...

    "Safest" Drinks at Christmas

Re: Sorry Mad but I think this is flat out incorrect. Shorts taken by themselves bring my blood sugar down, to keep Blood Levels equal I have a "full fat" mixer 8) For example a double Grey Goose with Cranberry Juice & Ice works just fine...... :D Mad is coming from a Type 2 lifestyle...

    I've Read Here......

that (depending where you live in the Uk) some Type 2's have to buy their own blood meter / strips. Well I have a spare meter right now that I have no use for & was wondering is there a Charity of some type where I could send this meter and hopefully help somebody out......

    Carbs

I've just started carb counting and am learning as I go...... A couple of things I noticed for me, include stopping eating some foods I used to have. Tomato soup is now out for me, 12g of carb per 1/2 can but 9g of that was sugar & therefore I was having a hypo before my next meal time. Cashew...

    Drinking

I don't drink much these days but if I do it tends to be Grey Goose (Vodka) & cranberry juice. Just remember a spirit by it's self will bring your blood sugar down, so have a sugary mixer to even things out!!!! Depending on how much you have had, maybe a carb snack for bedtime as well, just in...

    Must I Do As I'm Told ???

Well when I got my flu jab on Monday the nurse there said she had been changing a lot of type 1 people because the new machine (the GlucoRx) had been causing so many complaints. Re : Hypo symptoms, thankfully it would appear they are starting to come back 8) thanks for your thoughts and kind...

Is this On The Market ????

Please excuse me for my lack of knowledge on this subject, in fact what I'm posting here may well indeed be incorrect. Ok, we have the Omnipod http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetic-prod ... -pump.html A pump which is tube free, WoW how good is that ?? Secondly, we have the G4 CGM...

    Carb Counting Apps......

I've recently started carb counting using the Accu-Chek Aviva Expert meter. My blood levels are running a bit high but it's early doors & no doubt the insulin ratio will change when more data has been produced. Carb counting has been easy at home, I was given the "Carbs & Cals" book and adding...

    Must I Do As I'm Told ???

As stated above I have ran both meters side by side for a while. The GlucoRx is a brick of a size meter and on many occasions I had to re-test because the strip wasn't able to calculate from the blood sample. Results were fairly equal, apart from one occasion. My blood had tested high about...
