    Confused

Could you do a bit of reading on each one and see which takes your fancy more? I wasn't given a choice at the time and I was put onto a Medtronic Paradigm which I love. I don't really know much about the others? I tend to hide mine in my bra or clip it onto my pants. I had a few problems finding...

    Help

I would sit down and talk to him about your concerns so that he know's your worried. Generally speaking you would have your fast acting novarapid when your eating food and your background 24hour insulin can be either at night in the morning or both. You should speak to the specialist nurse...

Exercise, type 1 diabetes and healthiness

I'll have to try and do the celery sticks I think. I have a hard boiled egg with lunch if I'm having a salad. I get gluten free crackers as I've coeliac disease too and there's hardly anything in them so I sometimes have one or two of them if I'm hungry. :? x

    Driver's Medical Appraisal

Yikes, that's ridiculous isn't it! I don't understand why they make it so difficult for us. Surely we're safer than someone who has heart attacks/epilepsy because we get warning signs? I rang the DVLA myself yesterday and they said a decision will be made once their panel review the...

    a ladies question

Oh ladies, I'm so glad to find this post, like you all my periods are ridiculously irregular and for the past 8 months I've not had one (no I'm not pregnant). why bother

well said :D In relation to the other comments: I understand the anger in relation to being newly diagnosed. We've all been there, I'm still a bit angry and I've had it for nearly 17 years but I want to live and I want my family to enjoy there lives knowing I'm in it. The decision is always...

    Sex related question - Sorry

 hi, right, I didn't really know where to post this question so I thought I'd try in here. I was reading last night and I realised that myself and my partner aren't exactly as active as we used to be in the bedroom. We've been together 7 years and are getting married in 6 months so I...

Exercise, type 1 diabetes and healthiness

Hi Kerry-Michelle, Your plan sounds absolutely brilliant - looks like you've nailed it!! I've a similar style to you, I try to run a few times a week and go to the gym to do weights maybe a few times a week depending if I can get away from work  I eat potatoes as well, mainly jacket...

    injected too much insulin

Hypo's vary from person to person, I tend to get quite shaky, dizzy and then i know to check my blood sugars. Ask your specialist nurse/doctor to put you on a DAFNE/ carbohydrate counting course once your feeling up to it. It basically teaches you how to figure out how much carbohydrates are in...

Weight gain due to the insulin

I do believe it is quite common as a newly diagnosed diabetic to put a little weight on in the beginning. This is due to the fact that before diagnosis, your body was essentially 'starved' as it wouldn't have been able to uptake the glucose into the body's cells. When you start injecting after...

    Driver's Medical Appraisal

I've never had a problem myself with renewing my license until now. I filled in the renewal form in December and they wrote back to me to say they were contacting my GP to get more information. Something they have never done before. My GP have sent a form back to them but I'm still waiting to...

What do you eat to get out of hypos and to stay level

I sometimes have Jam on toast and then the carbs prevent me from having a further hypo later on. If not I stick to the lucozade and maybe some crackers
