    More questions

Well I came here to hopefully help and answer but it looks like @LivingLightly has answered pretty much everything in the same way I would of done. I'll go back to sleep now ;)

    Statins Again

I'd be interested to know why you think there is a drive to get us on Statins? I spoke about them with my DN and she was more than happy for me not to take them and to review after my next Hb1Ac is done (next month), at which point I will decide. The only evidence I see is the notional 10%...

Low carb hot chocolate, no sweeteners

Just bought raw cacao powder and add 15g of that to warmed milk, whisking well. It's a little bitter, but not bad at all.

    Diet coke

I'll have to try coke zero as I find Diet Coke so bitter, especially compared to full fat which I always used to have as a mixer (though never a big drinker, or never got drunk anyway).

    Feet and eyes

Yes I was told on the phone as well, then had to wait 3 weeks before I could meet and talk to my Diabetes Nurse. I'm trying to control mine initially through diet & exercise and will find if that is working in March. Wish you well on your journey, and if you ever want to talk to anyone just...

    Feet and eyes

Hi Aqua! I was officially diagnosed at the beginning of December (though I use my first blood test in November as the real date), and my foot & eye appointment is taking place at the end of February, so 10-12 weeks (ish). I'm in Stockton-on-Tees (North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust), but can...

Eye & Foot Clinic - what to expect?

So after what feels like an eternity (OK only six weeks), I have at last got an appointment for my eye and feet clinic, but been given no information on what to expect. It's not for anothe four weeks so I'm not going to get worried about it, just interested to know what will happen while I'm there.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Well today is 2months and 2days since I got that dreaded phone call from my GP surgery to tell me the news that I had gotten the initial T2 diagnosis and I needed to go for the 2nd blood test to confirm it. Lots of 2's in there, so I suppose it is only fitting that 2day I recorded having lost...

    Nothing (really) spikes me!

Thanks. I think this is something I will look in to depending on the results of my Hba1C in March.

    Nothing (really) spikes me!

The beauty of these forums is learning from others experiences and knowledge like this. Thank you so much for your feedback. Really helping in my understanding of things!

    Nothing (really) spikes me!

Really interesting points, thank you. Yes my choices even at takeaways have changed to try and cut out what might be seen as 'carbie', so no chips/rice/bread (or only very small portions).

    Nothing (really) spikes me!

Thanks for the response. My testing has consisted of when I wake, before I eat, 2hrs after I've started eating. I don't test everyday now and when I do test it is mainly around when I eat something I've not eaten before since I started testing, so I can work out if I can eat it again or not...

    Nothing (really) spikes me!

Hi Kenny Thanks for your response. 'Spiked' as far as I understand it, and how I am using the word, is an increase of 2 or more in my blood glucose readings between immediately before I eat and 2 hours after my first mouthful. So as an example the Mackeral Pate & Sourdough saw my glucose rise...

    Nothing (really) spikes me!

Long story short (ish). Diagnosed Nov' '23. with Hba1C of 55. Immediately slashed carbs. Two weeks later blagged Blood Glucose monitor and been testing regularly since. With the exception of the following 'meals' nothing has spiked me: 2 Slices of Sourdough with Mackeral Pate Wholemeal Pasta...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

So another 2lb gone this week. That's 25lb now since since end of November. Another 1/2" off the waist as well, making 3" in total.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Friday must be weigh in day for many of us I take it? Yes I did mine again as well! This week I've had quite a rapid drop of 7lb (just checked that and surprised myself). Maybe some of that excess 3lb that I put on over Xmas has gone this week as part of that? Total of 23lb now gone since...

    Diagnosed last Friday

So much advice on these forums (and facebook) that sometimes it's difficult to know what's right, and what's wrong, however we are all different and what is right for you might be no good for someone else. It sounds like you are making all the right steps to suit you and your body. I was...
