    Cholesterol Level Up

Hi. My cholesterol keeps increasing. In the last 6 months it has gone from 5.3 to 7.7. I feel a little hard done by as I stopped drinking completely in January, my control has never been better currently at 48, I've lost weight I'm considerably leaner a lot fitter than 18 months ago. Diet...

Type 1 for 44 years - my 2 children also type 1 - not her family history (started with me)

Welcome. What a time you've had. I hope you're recovering well. Type 1 here, no family history. My 2 kids, 5 and 10, have been tested for T1 related antibodies and thankfully none detected. I've had diabetic frozen shoulder, now about 90% recovered. Presently I have trigger finger in my right...

Dexcom G6 reading too low on startup

If your blood glucose is fairly stable I would be tempted to calibrate now. But don't trust it too much overnight, are you using it for looping?

    Benfotiamine (fat soluble vitamin B1)

    .....like vitamin D.

    CGM PROBLEMS!!!

The false low readings you're getting now could be explained by calibrating it too high earlier in the day.

    CGM PROBLEMS!!!

Just be careful. Add in a compression low, foot on floor/dawn phenomena, a shower etc etc and the time lag between the sensor reading interstitial fluid to a finger prick blood and things may not be as far out as first appears.

    CGM PROBLEMS!!!

Also don't calibrate too often. Give it a few hours at least between calibrations. Try activating the sensor as soon as it's applied. I know letting it soak works well for some people, but for me I get no benefit.

    CGM PROBLEMS!!!

You seem to keep having the same problems over and over. Bad data is worse than no data, it's not helping your diabetes control and just adding to your anxieties. Give CGM a rest or try a different product such as the Libre 2.

Is there anything better than fiasp

It also depends what you're eating. Does it spike after every meal, whatever you eat? I find pizza and chips (not together!) require a different strategy when compared with rice or boiled potatoes. Even if the overall carb load is similar.

Is there anything better than fiasp

Some people get on better with Lyumjev, similar profile to Fiasp. I've not had any personal experience of it. If I was spiking after 4 hours I would be checking my basal insulin is covering that time period and consider increasing or splitting my meal time bolus. I use a pump so a square wave...

    Fiasp insulin side effects,

I've never had any side effects for Fiasp, apart from hypos. I believe NovoRapid and Fiasp are very similar. But it might be worth switching back to see if your side effects disappear. And / or getting checked out to see if it's something else entirely.

Teachingg someone to give me injection

44 years T1 and still making mistakes

Mistakes - once I filled my insulin pump with slow acting Tresiba when I should have used Fiasp. 2 set changes and 24hrs later I realised what I had done when the Tresiba pen cartridge I had filled from fell from a shelf in the fridge - duh!

    Omnipod Dash allergy cannula

Hi Tom. This is an old thread you may not get a reply from the OP. However switching to a tubed pump would allow more choice of cannulas. Some people prefer the steel sets if you're having problems with the teflon.

    Took wrong insulin

What an awful feeling it is when you realise you've injected the wrong insulin! Grrrrr. What fast acting insulin are you using? I am not a doctor but would be confident in saying most bolus insulins would be used up by 6 to 8 hours. It sounds like you are out of the danger zone. But keep...

Dexcom One transmitters - cannot get them for free.

I get my Dexcom one and transmitter from the local pharmacy. I order them like all my other supplies. Never had a problem. I'm pretty sure it's your GP who needs to sort this out.

Trouble losing weight since starting insulin

Using insulin doesn't make you gain weight per se but it does add a complication when trying to maintain, increase or lose weight. A change in your physical state will very lightly result in a change in insulin requirements. It's early doors and you'll get better at counting carbs and planning...

Sudden High Blood Glucose mornings/Sudden Low at Night

Hi. Just for reference. Your morning blood glucose rise would be very similar to my dawn phenomena if it weren't for a programmed insulin pump basal increase at 0630.
