    16 8 diet

Most of the time, 6 days a week, I'm on 6 / 18 combined with lower carb - 80 to 100 grams/day. Basically I don't eat breakfast. I find it great for weight control and increased insulin sensitivity. I rarely feel hungry during fasting periods and can exercise very happily on an empty stomach...

    Less

Just 500 calories a day, you will definitely lose weight. Go careful.

    Statins

Nearly all people with diabetes are recommended a statin at around 40 years old, whatever their blood work says.

    Choosing next pump

I went from a Medtronic 640g to the Tslim with the Dexcom G6 in November and I love it! Hitting 85 to 90% TIR with relative ease. My pros from the Tslim: most people tend to get on better with Dexcom, as I do. The Tslim is quite a bit smaller and smarter looking. My pros for the Medtronic, more...

    Time in range

I'm happy with around 80% TIR with less than 1% below 3.9.

    CGM BREAK!!

Well it is a CGM sensor, finger pricks or flying in the dark. I know what I would choose. Plus you said you want a pump. Showing you're dedicated and a willingness to try your best is a prerequisite of pump therapy. Take a deep breath. This is long haul. You have a life long condition, in 40...

How Long Do I Have To Wait Before I Can Be Put On An Insulin Pump??

You may well have to pre-bolus when using a pump as well. Insulin pumps are great pieces of kit but you do need to learn the basics. 6 months minimum. And as said above they're not a silver bullet. Overall I would say they require more effort than MDI but the rewards can be greater, especially...

Tandem and dexcom users - best placement for cannula and dexcom???

Dexcom G6 on the back of my arm. Tandem cannula on my lower back. Pump in my pocket on the same side as the Dexcom.

    GETTING WORRIED NOW!!

Ah! You could be well into your honeymoon period. If you don't know? This is where some people can start producing some of their insulin again, especially shortly after diagnosis. Unfortunately this doesn't last long. A few months, maybe a year but eventually your faulty immune system will...

    GETTING WORRIED NOW!!

When were you diagnosed? Could you be in a honeymoon period?

    GETTING WORRIED NOW!!

Hi. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new but hypos are usually caused by too much insulin, not enough carbs or unplanned exertion. Or maybe you've lost a lot of weight lately, change of diet, different insulin, incorrect strength of insulin. Has anything changed recently you can think of?

Do you take statins? Do you know why?

I get statins recommended every year and I'm sure on Thursdays diabetes review I will again politely decline. The 3% reduction of a cardiovascular event is, for me, not worth it.

Any help and advice be much appreciated.

Hi Kayleigh. Try not to worry too much. Things will get easier with a bit of time, knowledge and effort. However blood sugars in the 20s are very undesirable. You could consider lowering carb intake and increasing exercise but you really need some professional help. If you will have to fund...

    Continuous Glucose Monitor

Dexcom G6 and Libre 2 both work very well for me. Dexcom has a fairly short list of phones it will work with.

    Travelling with insulin

Where are you going? Some parts of the world, especially the less developed, will allow you to buy insulin over the counter.

    Visual insulin drops in cannula

If I see drops in the little window type area of the cannula I normally change it unless I've just come out of the shower or the like.
