Cholesterol - help to understand results

Thanks Jim, that was the mindset I had for the vast majority of the last few months, especially after reading the diabetes code. But I had a sudden feeling of.... ‘what is Fung is wrong?’ So much is said about cholesterol I became concerned I might be hurting myself, even though I don’t eat...

Cholesterol - help to understand results

Hi all, Further to reducing my hba1c from 91-46 in three months, I have now got some cholesterol results. However, due to the chaos at my local gps, I only have the results the receptionist read to me and then a doctor text me to say my cholesterol was 7.17 and is now 5.15 which is good and to...

    Puzzle

Thank you for that Ziggy, very interesting. I always found skipping breakfast the easiest thing so perhaps I will try it. See what affect it may have for me. Thanks again, Jon

    Puzzle

Yes this is how I see it from Dr Fung. High blood sugars are a consequence of the bigger problem which is hyperinsulinemia. Makes sense then to avoid carbs which will turn into insulin regardless. Quick question though, if we are most insulin resistant in the morning, would it make sense to...

Struggling to get my readings low

I’ve avoided porridge and all cereals. For brekkie you could try Greek yoghurt with berries and sprinkling of mixed nuts? The carbs in that breakfast and in fruit is probably making it harder for you.

    2019/20 Football season

Oh cool! He was a good manager for us! Fond memories of the time he was there. Yes McGreal was Tranmere for a bit and Burnley & Ipswich. Not a huge fan of his but he has done a pretty good job with what he has got. If he gets us through playoffs that would be a good achievement.

    2019/20 Football season

Oh yes, your boys are by far the worst affected by all this. Feel for you. My lot are Colchester so we are in the playoffs but very likely we’ll still be in league two next season!

    Worried

Think you got away lightly if that was all it went up to?!!! I reckon I’d hit double figures after that, you possibly did as well so maybe try to avoid in future. It’s hard though I know.

    The results are in.....!

More than happy. Initially I went almost zero carbs which I found was too much to handle.... it left me feeling very weak and lacking in energy so I decided to bring back some carbs - but on my terms! I would say I range in my daily intake from 20g per day to 100g. It does depend on what meal...

    The results are in.....!

Hi all, I joined this forum about four months ago when I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic with an hba1c of 91. This was a retest after measuring 89 the week before. My doctor couldn’t believe it as I assume he thought a 38 year old who’s not overly obese is not likely to be diabetic...

Annual blood test and diabetes checks still happening?

In have managed to get a blood test for tomorrow at my local gp surgery. I booked it in 10 days ago. It is a follow up to my previous blood test in February. I also have a consultation with the surgery nurse to go through some things so will be interested to hear what she has to say. More...

What should my mmol reading be

That doesn’t seem too bad, if you’re like me, I found that my levels steadily dropped so it will happen gradually, you’re at the top end but you’re just beginning so don’t feel disheartened.... and don’t forget it could have been a lot worse!!!! Remember, as long as it doesn’t rise over 2mmol...

    What I have eaten today

Well, I’m gave up bananas at first but missed them so much and found they don’t cause me too many problems.... I hope!!! If my levels don’t come down in my next hba1c then i may reconsider. With cauliflower rice it’s great if you fry it up! I have it with soy sauce, chicken, onions and some...
