    Thanks. That’s reassuring. :)

    Dropped novopen echo

I The novo nordisk pen caps which I use seem to have a little ‘line mark’ to line up the twenty units. The novo fine and novo fine plus are slightly different shape but you can still test the 20 units on both. Other brands which are still compatible with the echo may be different though for...

    Dropped novopen echo

Yep. The 20 units lined up to the top of the needle cap so I’m pretty confident it’s working ok.

    Dropped novopen echo

I have another pen with a dead battery which I could use if this one failed. It has no dose memory feature now of course with no battery but it would still work to deliver the insulin. :)

    Dropped novopen echo

Anyone ever dropped their insulin pen ? My novopen echo dropped from the bedside table to the ground - carpet so not a hard surface . It looks intact and primed ok and I dispensed 20 units into the cap like they suggest if any fault is suspected and it was fine. It just worries me it’s been...

    Levemir injection sites

Y Thanks. I might try that area as well. I did use that spot once a very long while ago but did end up with lots of bruising ... that was when I was on 6mm needles though so the 4mm may be better. :)

    Levemir injection sites

Thanks. Yep. I do use 4mm. I guess I’m ‘old school’ and was always taught to ‘pinch an inch’ ;) but I have been told it’s not really necessary these days as well. My educator once told me to stick to the same area for basal - eg stomach or legs or arms as they all absorb at slightly different...

    Levemir injection sites

Hi :) I’ve been injecting my twice daily levemir in my legs for years but with so many lumps and bruises my legs need a break. I’m very thin so was going to inject in the ‘love handle’ area or lower back as I can pinch some fat there ;) Just wondering if anyone else uses these areas for...

    Pump basal rate limits

Thanks :) . Yes my pump lets me set as low as 0.025 units per hour so I guess if it allows a setting that low it must be an allowable rate.

    Pump basal rate limits

Hi :) Does anyone know if there is a limit to how low a basal rate can be on a pump ? I’m going back on the pump but using the ‘untethered ‘ method where I will still inject approximately 75% of my basal with my levemir injection and the other 25% of basal via the pump. I prefer injected basal...

    Antidepressant withdrawal

Thank you for your reply. Yes I will consult with my doctor and get his advice for reducing the dose or stopping the drug. I’m extra keen to stop taking it as it also restricts the medications I can take for my endometriosis and gastroparesis as mirtazapine can interfere with these.

    Antidepressant withdrawal

Hi. I’m wanting to stop taking my antidepressant. I’ve been on Mirtazapine 15mg for six months for anxiety and depression. I feel it’s no longer helping and leaves me extremely tired all the time. I will consult with my doctor of course and taper off slowly but would appreciate any experiences...

    Contraceptive pill

Thanks for your reply :) . I did ring my endocrinologist first - more for the risk of clot side of things. He said risk for diabetics slightly higher but still worth trying. I had my first tablet last night and it made me feel ‘weird’ and agitated. And my sugars dropped. Don’t want to give up...

    Contraceptive pill

One for the ladies ;) I’m starting the contraceptive pill in an attempt to control endometriosis pain. I’ve never been on the pill before and I’m 42. Doctor says risk of clots is higher for diabetics but not so great as to stop me trialing them. I’m a bit nervous though. Any side effects I...

    Antibiotics

Agree with you there but a simple broken toe in the diabetic foot especially with neuropathy can lead to horror amputations so if there’s a even a slight chance of infection I’d rather take the antibiotics. :)

    Antibiotics

I am on a 5 day course of antibiotics due to a broken toe. It’s more as a precaution to avoid infection as the toe is very swollen and red. I’m in no pain thanks to diabetic neuropathy !!!! I have found I’ve had a low grade fever since starting them and feel pretty lousy in general. Is this...

    Antidepressants

Thank you. I posted this thread nearly a year ago now. Doing ok these days. Tried a few antidepressants and am now on Mirtazapine. It seems to help. You are correct though they only help put you in a better state to deal with things. They are not a cure. I hope to be on them short term and am...
