    Low carb bread

Just Tried it. Not as good as the now discontinued Lidl high protein rolls but will have to substitute for them as there is nothing else out there as low carb per 100g (15g) and high protein (24g) on the market now unless anyone knows better.

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

I have just got hold of some Sainsbury's Hi Lo bread. It contains 15.6g of carbs and a massive 24.7 of protein. I slice has 5g of carbs and 8.1 of protein. The fat content could be higher at 8.7g per 100g - 2/8 a slice so I will be using t with a load of butter or cheese on it!! It will do as a...

    Confused!!

As a complementary therapist myself I stay away from doctors. Unfortunately type 2 is rife in my family from my skinny father's side. Even my sister and her son have it. I am the only one who has managed to stay off meds. Re my 2 hour sleep stints I have decided that I wake at the end of each...

    Confused!!

My fasting blood sugars on my meter have been consistently over 7 even 7.8 for the last month or so . I had an HbA1c yesterday and it is 44 which is 6.2 in old money. Does this mean I am in the clear and don't have to worry about going on Metformin after 15 years of low carb/low GI diet and...

High morning readings because of pain in the night?

Let me explain. The HbA1c is a measure of your blood sugar over the last 3 months. This is the reading the doctor will go by so you are what is called pre diabetic. If you want to lower the 42 you can do this in a few ways. 1. If you are overweight lose the weight. 2. Go on a strict low carb low...

High morning readings because of pain in the night?

This morning my fasting bs was 6.4 which is better than yesterday but I didn't wake in the night from pain but just my usual 2 hour report stints!! I will see how it goes

High morning readings because of pain in the night?

How strange? Firstly the pain I had was in my teeth. It came on badly for a few hours and then would subside and come on again. My dentist said there was nothing wrong with my teeth and when the tooth pain was on the upper teeth rather than the lower ones I started looking elsewhere for what it...

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

I checked out that so called high fibre /low GI loaf they are selling and it is not low enough carb for us. Others out there are better. They showed me the nutritional information out of a big black file.

High morning readings because of pain in the night?

My last HbA1c was in Octobr and it was 42 and at that time my fasting morning readings were rarely over 6. A couple of months ago I started getting higher fasting readings, in the high 6's but fine by lunchtime i.e. 5.4ish . At the same time I got a shoulder impingement and was having facial...

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

If I dared to go in later than the second baking of them in a day at our local Lidl they were all gone. Thre is a gym next door nd loads of there used to buy them. Our Lidl couldn't bake enough of them and reckoned their demise was temporary. What on earth am I going to be able to substitute...

Dawn Phenomen - RAW Apple Cider Vinegar

I tried this a while back until I went to the dentist and he demanded to know what on earth I had done to my teeth!! The ACV had started to dissolve the enamel and made my teeth look shiny!!!

    LIdl Rolls

They can't do this. 1 roll + filling is my everyday lunch. I even take them abroad with me in case I can't find suitable food to eat. There were none in my Lidl today. BTW last time I was in Morrison's there was a low carb sliced loaf which is going to have to substitute methinks. It was a...

    total confusion re new units

Thanks for that. My problem is that I have been on a low carb/low GI diet + exercise for about 12 years so I can't really do much to improve it without sacrificing the joys of eating when I am hungry :( I did reduce miy HbA1c dramatically 12 years ago but now it has crept back up despite my diet.

    total confusion re new units

Someone wrote <<With a level of 48, it is highly unusual to be offered medication.>> . According to my medical records online this level of 48 (or was it 46?) is actually diabetic so I thought that they would try to persuade me to go on Metformin which I really do not wish to do at this level...
