most googled questions on veganism 2019

The problem comes when you have a loud vegan lobby blaming meat for T2 diabetes. This in turn leads to ideas such as the 'meat tax', which in turn would result in people loading up on carbs. All based on the lie that carb-heavy diets are good for you, but meat and eggs are bad. No-one on a...

Type 2 Numb toes good control

If your blood readings are up, that could be the reason, but low to high 6s doesn't sound high enough to bring on neuropathy in itself. In my case, neuropathy was mainly caused by high triglycerides: could cholesterol be an issue?

Type 2 Christmas excess or sickness bug?

Yes, the timing would suggest it could be related to the carbs; on a related note, it could also be lots of food you're not really used to any more, or just more food than you're used to: any of those things could easily give you a stomach upset and following feelings of being quite unwell.

    Christmas dinner

That's very good Koalajane: tasty food and good blood results: I tried to go low carb, so I had a big bowl of rocket and romaine with blue cheese dressing, parmesan, and cold cut turkey meat, two lamb chops and some red wine on the side. I'd love to hear what everyone else had- get some ideas...

    'Don't skip breakfast.'

LOL. I followed the link and checked the comment section (not usually a place where common sense reigns in the Mail)- this time, even the Daily mail comment section is united in calling out the article for being utter nonsense

    Type 2 Pineapple

Definitely agree with not having pineapple any more. It's not just the leaves that are 'spiky'!

    Would you give up meat

Being a diet controlled T2 means a lot of foods are restricted: giving up meat would narrow the available range even further, so it's a hard 'no' for me on giving up meat. Likewise, I would never give up green vegetables, almonds fish or eggs. Avoiding unhealthy foods is hard enough, without...

    Monitor yes or no...

No harm to test and see what you can and can't handle, carb-wise. Another thing to note is that testing is surprisingly easy and surprisingly painless. I actually only test now if I think my bloods are too high, or if I'm experimenting with a new food. However, testing will let you see what your...

Confused by BG readings after blowout!

It could be random factor- delayed spikes etc: having fat with your carbs can give you a later spike. However, I expect it's the alcohol. If you have alcohol with your meals, you can post very low-readings after. OK for a one off, but the glucose is still going into your body, so probably not...

    Elective Amputation Re peripheral neuropathy

What are your usual blood levels like? I had painful neuropathy in my feet and right hand, but it did fade, slowly but significantly, when I kept my numbers low for an extended peiod. In my case, it was apparently exacerbated greatly by a very high triglyceride count. I was on rosuvastatin for a...

    Low carb diet and constipation

I think leafy greens are pretty low carb- I lost a lot of weight eating kale and bok choi, cabbage and sauerkraut, and constipation is unthinkable if you eat such foods. Failing that, broccoli should be good too. Honestly, greens are great- very filling, very nutritious: Green vegetable with a...

Still drinking Cola drinks? Not such a good idea...

I used to like to drink fruit juice and milk but when I was diagnosed I switched to diet sodas: I lost 30kg, 'reversed' my diabetes according to the doctor, and reduced my triglyceride and cholesterol levels from dangerously high levels, to optimal levels.

UK's obesity crisis BLAMED on NHS.

The biggest culprit was something with zero calories, carbs or fat? I know you to be a good, knowledgeable poster, so I won't disagree per se, but it does sound quite anomalous. I also doubt that people switching from full-sugar to diet soda would be a major factor in the obesity crisis. I'm...

Decision to abandon LCHF just for Christmas

Mr Pot has it right: cheese, sprouts, meat, poultry, red wine, whisky. There's plenty to be getting on with right there. I think a little bit of carb might be nice too, but just no need to go overboard- relax rather than abandon low-carb would be my plan.

UK's obesity crisis BLAMED on NHS.

I don't mean to level this at Guzzler, but I don't think there's any 'to be fair' about it: if the NHS was guided by tobacco and alcohol companies and were still giving pregnant women Guiness etc, there'd soon be something said about it. I'm not sure the guidelines they follow are that much less...

Twitter threads on why most GP's won't suggest low carb

It's bizarre, isn't it? I didn't know much about diabetes when I was diagnosed, but I did know it was to do with sugar levels being too high in your blood, so my immediate instinct was to stop eating sugar and things which turn into glucose after you eat them. How these clowns have the audacity...

    What is going on? 2.3?

You don't have all the symptoms of GD though. Your other post had a wealth of non-diabetic-level blood reading results: eating lots of carbs then having non-diabetic results is symptomatic of not necessarily having GD. Fasting for a very long time then eating high-carb food probably isn't...
