Review of Prof. Taylor's Study in Medical Economics

All the while HCP's are telling patients that it (T2) is a progressive condition, it is only the will power of the patient that will permit them to prevail

Review of Prof. Taylor's Study in Medical Economics

FWIW I believe that Taylors' work make a significant contribution to the debate. Do fat people get diabetic, or diabetic people get fat? It is the latter, but there is no doubt that weight reduction has a positive impact on BG. Many people here skew their BGL's by adopting low carb dietary...

    2 hours after Xmas dinner

Alcohol is known to lower BG's in the very short term. IMHO all livers are Male, even those that reside in females, reason being, the liver seems to only be able to deal with one thing at a time. On detecting alcohol your liver is so busy dealing with a potential alcohol poisoning that it...

    Share Your Progress!

@hilmat01 Your GP surgery gets an additional payment simply because you are diabetic. In exchange they must adhere to minimum service levels, which is that you are tested once a year. Tell them that you will report them if you don't get the service expected

HbA1c result 24th December is 38 - using an A1C now device. Down from 40, which I thought was odd given that my FBG's have risen of late

    Getting officially un-diagnosed

Conventional wisdom says once a T2 always a T2. That said there are ways to control your blood sugars, and for some this may enable your HBA1c readings to be below the diabetic threshold.

    Pension annuity rates

Enhanced annuity rates are available for all chronic conditions. That does not mean that it is the correct route to take in all instances. I have to be cautious here (as does DCUK) as it is illegal to give financial advise unless you are a qualified Independent Financial Advisor. Thinks to look...

Unsocialable people at greater risk of Type 2!

I am sure I could put a study together that concludes that you are more likely to have T2 if you wear black shoes :D Just ignore the fact that black is the most common colour for shoes

    Pre Diabetes & Alcohol

Hence why Holsten's advertising strapline in the 1970's was "We turn all the sugar into alcohol" It was never advertised as 'suitable for diabetics' but many turned to it. On todays cans it reports just over 2g carbs per 100ml Which is great, except I have never had a beer served in 100ml glasses :D
