10 week low carb program glitches

Just beneath the big green box that says "sign up", there's a less obvious log in text. Click on that and supply email address and password and your in.

How do we convince the healthcare professionals.

Just found this paragraph in one of the sheets given to me,( the highlighting is mine) published by the BDA, the Association of UK Dieticians, Food Fact Sheet for Diabetes - Type 2. So maybe there is hope after all. I will point it out to her when I see her next week (for a different reason).

    You are very lucky!

How do we convince the healthcare professionals.

So how do we get the "official" guidance changed?

How do we convince the healthcare professionals.

I changed my doctor and surgery when they wouldn't give me my results without my persistence and weren't interested in a collaborative approach to T2 management. They even took six weeks to sign my forms for "My Diabetes, My Way" which was not supposed to be optional for them. I've never...

Can your HbA1c keep going down?

As far as meter goes, you'll find quite a few people on here use the Home Health UK code free meter and strips. The main reason is that you can get 50 test strips for 6.99. Have a look here: http://homehealth-uk.com/ . I switched from the Accu Check some time ago and , although the code free is...

How do we convince the healthcare professionals.

So I go along to my doctor, who is generally quite helpful and collaborative and I tell him I'm adopting a mild version of LCHF (130g) and that it is recommended that I tell him about it. He frankly admits that he doesn't have enough knowledge of this style of eating and asks me to see the...

    Metformin - should I or shouldn't I?

Excellent video that I hadn't seen before. Will rewatch and get to the end when I've got time. Thanks for sharing.

    Itchy legs

I get very bad itchy legs from time to time, mostly at bed time and on my inner thighs, normally only in the winter and particularly bad in cold, dry, frosty weather. I'm not convinced that this is related in any way to my T2 diabetes. I've tried every cream and lotion available and constant...

Type 2 2 hour readings comparable with HbA1c of 39

Yes..as will mine, but...it's an average of spot readings taken, in my case at two hours and three hours after eating...so artificially biased (due to the three hour reading being, hopefully, always lower) ....and not in any way representative of my average BG levels over a 24 hour period...

Type 2 2 hour readings comparable with HbA1c of 39

Many thanks to all of you for your replies and pointers to converters etc. It seems to me that this condition (T2) gives the illusion of being controllable but, in fact, it's like driving a car or flying a plane without instruments. Taking everything into account, I'm going to give myself a...

Type 2 2 hour readings comparable with HbA1c of 39

Thanks for this. Interesting paper . I've had a read but will need to look through it again when I've got a bit more time. At least it mentions post prandial readings but with references to ranges of HbA1c.

Type 2 2 hour readings comparable with HbA1c of 39

I know there is no true definitive answer to this question but I was hoping that there was enough experience in the forum to give an indication. I am looking to get back down to an HbA1c level as near to 39 as possible by fully adopting the low carb approach. Obviously, I can't get my doctor to...

    Many Thanks, Louise. LC Programme.

Many thanks to Louise (sorry I don't know your full username) for emailing me the low carb programme each week. I can't remember asking for it and haven't been very interactive with it. But....I did watch all of the videos and I did slowly drag my carb intake down from (I thought moderate...

Hello from returning member whose had a serious loss of control over 2015

I've had a good two weeks and an excellent week this week, ending last night with a new personal best two hour 6.5. This has been achieved by cutting my carb intake from around 200g per day to under 120 g per day after watching the low carb forum programme videos sent by Louise (sorry, not sure...

Just tried this. Much better! Thanks @Snapsy .

    Using the IPad app

Also, I've just now started getting adverts all over the place. Think I'll have to go back to the PC version, though it's much less convenient for me.

High blood sugar readings in the morning

Some people seem to be better than others in the morning. For me, the dawn effect is a very real and easily measured phenomenon. If I was to get up at, say 7am and take a reading once an hour without eating anything, my BG would increase every time ( I haven't tried more than 4 hours). This is...

    Struggling!

I know exactly where you're coming from. Been there, got the T shirt! For me, the problem is that the known long term implications, serious as they are, don't override the immediate gratification of eating the delicious but extremely bad for me junk food. What I find is that I need a shorter...
