    P:E dieting

Hi Jim No real argument with this other than there is a growing school of thought that glucose created by the body IE: converting protein to glucose, is processed differently by our bodies than glucose introduced externally IE: consumed in carbs etc. Like so many diets and impacts on Diabetes...

    Weight Loss

I think the answer maybe in your responses. A healthy way to increase weight is to increase your protein. So I would reintroduce your daily protein shake or better still increase it by eating more or larger portions of meat or fish.

    Anyone tried Newcastle diet

Yes. It worked for me losing 16kg and returning my levels to normal in eight weeks. I was obese at the time and it was hard work with fantastic results for me. It is however in my opinion an intervention and needs to be followed with a diet plan such as lowish carb/calories.

    Newly diagnosed and still confused

Well Done a fantastic result. In my experience it is the low carbing that has impacted your levels. Personally I took myself off Metformin when my sugar levels returned to normal with no negative effect. Of course I was self testing daily so could watch out for any changes. Best of luck keep up...
