Anybody else not seen a diabetes nurse or team?

Call the surgery and ask for a blood test to be arranged at the surgery or local hospital if it's been more than a year since the last one. Book a DN review even by phone at least 1 week after the blood test. Look at your results online so when the DN calls you have something in front of you to...

    Type 2, looking at advice

Hi. It's not so much 'processed food' that's the problem but any carbs. I agree with Trevor vP that you should avoid any fruit juice, sweets and biscuits. I have 85% Dark Chocolate. Your BS figures aren't that bad so don't panic but just get those carbs down and you should be fine.

    Trulicity and LADA

A side issue, but the problem is that T1 is assumed to be caused by autoimmunity but in fact beta cell destruction can be caused by viruses and a Google search shows some of these known viruses. In this case GAD will be negative. This is a problem of definition and I believe the definition of T1...

    Trulicity and LADA

I'm surprised Trulicity was prescribed. It is normally used to help people lose weight as T2s. Are you sure you are a LADA? Unless you have had a C-peptide test your insulin production would be unknown and hence being LADA can't easily be determined. LADA is where you have inadequate insulin...

    undiagnosed

Those symptoms don't immediately say 'diabetes' to me. Try testing yourself after the long walk to see whether your BS is too low. Your BS readings are in a reasonable range. It looks like there is some other condition going on.

    Having a hypo every night

Hi. First insulin itself can't cause weight gain; it's the carbs you take. I agree with the other posts about CGMs. I started using a Libre 2 three months ago and it's been a revelation. I now couldn't without it. I have to self-fund and it's £98 per month which many can't afford but if you can...

Weight loss and type 1 diabetes

Can I be blunt? You must reduce your carb intake if you want to lose weight. You can have fats and proteins to balance so focus more on them. You can can have chocolate but have 85% dark and so on. Forget Calories as they are not the right measure but Carbs are. Note that insulin itself can't...

Type 1 Constant high blood sugar

Hi. I can't comment on Addisons. First do you have any excess weight? If you do you may have insulin resistance which makes any insulin less effective. If you do have excess weight then do have a low-carb diet if not already doing that. Have you balanced your Basal? You can do this by not eating...

    Libre2

Hi. It does sound like it's a faulty sensor as you have checked you do have a Libre 2. I would call Abbotts Customer line. I did that a few weeks back as my sensor was giving wrong readings and they sent a replacement

    Victoza side effects?

Hi. I'm guessing you have some excess weight? What is your diet approach to reduce that weight; it needs to be thru a reduction in Carbe.?Perhaps you are already doing that?

    Having a hypo every night

Can you give us more information. Are you on two insulins (Basal/Bolus)? How do you measure your blood sugar? How do you know how much Toujeo to inject? It sounds like you need to inject less Toujeo but you need to balance it first. Do you know how to balance it. If you are losing weight you...

How do you use your Libre 2?

I'm very happy with the default alarm settings and like being woken at night if I do hit the lower level.

    Lipohypertrophy vs Lipodystrophy

At the moment it appears to be more predictable as the area is 'virgin' territory. It's difficult to tell whether there is more delay. I would rather have some extra delay rather than the insulin languishing in damaged flesh and with very unpredictable timing.

    Slow release metformin

I would agree that if your BS control is good then stop the Metformin if it is giving you problems as it never does much. GPs believe in it as it shows they are doing something. I've been on Met SR for 20 years with no problems at all apart from the known metallic taste problem which lasted 6...

    Lipohypertrophy vs Lipodystrophy

Hi. Traditionally I have used both stomach and outer thighs but have found in recent months that the absorption rate thru those areas has become slower due to the change in the flesh profile. I've recently added upper arms and that has helped more reliable absorption. I'm also extending the area...

Slow acting insulin once a day

Insulin should really only be used either after testing for your insulin production levels or when various tablets have been tried and have not brought BS down. If you have any excess weight then reducing that thru a low-carb diet should always be the first approach.

    T1 on insulin

Hi again. My nurse started me on just the Basal but when I gave her my recorded BS readings she added the Bolus within a month as she could see my BS control was not good without the Bolus so see what your readings are like and discuss with her. I have to disagree to some extent with the...

Don't take your metformin when not well.

I think your Dr is wrong but who am I as an amateur to criticise an 'expert' :)

Have I messed up here? (Going too fast?)

Hi. You do need some carbs so that you have enough fibre in the diet. Choose fibrous ones. Your BS doesn't indicate a risk of DKA but something isn't right so get it checked
