Type 1 Disposal of Free style libre 2 sensors and applicator

I throw both in the bin. Common sense says that neither are a risk to anyone. The experts will tend to play it safe unnecessarily adding to cost and nuisance. BTW Libre 3 when we can get it uses a much smaller applicator which helps reduce waste.

Is libre app rollout complete as still no email from them and sensor only has 24 hours left

I got fed up with waiting for my Android 2:10 upgrade which others were being offered so I upgraded using my PC. Go to the Abbot Freestyle site, find the upgrade page (Home?) and click on the Google Play link. When you get their check that your mobile phone is listed as a device. If not then get...

    Counting carbs and fats

Yes, fats have very little effect on blood sugar so don't worry but they can slow up carb absorption which matters if using insulin. The research used to say Sat fats are bad for you was always flawed so you may want to think about that or do your own research.

    Just prescribed tablets..

Hi. Yes, forget Calories as they don't represent any specific food group and each group has a different effect on blood sugar (and weight gain etc). Carbs have the biggest effect. I think you may have to get used to handling both your fasting and diabetes in the longer term if you need meds in...

    CGM Vs hba1c

For info I find my Libre 2 reading to be higher than the surgery blood test. Perhaps the way Libre calculates it depends on the wearer BS profile?

How often do u change the lancets

Previous 'advice' on this forum has been to change the lancet on St Swithins day! I change mine every few weeks.

    C peptide test and Medication

C-Peptide testing is a bit of a maze. Are you aware that there are two different ways of testing i.e. Blood plasma test and the urine test. I've had both with varying results, In both cases the specimen needs to be handled carefully and I believe quickly refrigerated. My consultant was more...

Ozempic : does it reduced weight in diabetcs only because it suppresses appeite?

Hi. You mention that you have the 'correct diet'? Does that mean reducing overall carbs? You mention reducing bread and sugar which is good but there may be other things such as sugar-loaded yogurt which are contributing to your weight gain and higher BS

    Possible diabetic?

Hi. Yes it's quite usual to see the diabetes nurse if you are having a diabetes blood test. It could just be that you are pre-diabetic and need some diet advice etc.

Night-time hypos - how worried should I be?

As a LADA/T1 you probably need the Basal/Bolus regime to add a Bolus. It gives much better control than just the Basal. Is there a particular reason you were prescribed Semglee as it's not commonly used but may be the right choice for you? If there was no special reason for that you might want...

    Prescription hold ups

There isn't a supply problem with Novopens. I requested a Novopen 6 to replace my existing pen via the surgery's online system. It was approved the same day. The local chemist had to order it but I now have it. If your surgery needs prodding then do contact the surgery's PPG (Patient...

    Issues with Nurse Practitioner

Hi. If you are slim and possibly losing weight then at your (young) age it's always possible you aren't T2 but T1. If this is the case then do ask the GP for a referral to the diabetes clinic for the two T1 tests. I've been down that route.

Need to Increase my Calories - Loosing too Much weight - Type 2 Diabetic and now scared to eat

Hi. Rather than thinking Calories think Carbs together with the other main food groups. If you are losing weight you may not be T2 but T1/LADA where the body doesn't produce enough insulin to metabolise the carbs you eat. Have plenty of proteins and fats and keep the carbs down where needed to...

    Not overweight

It is quite possible your husband is T1/LADA and not T2. Mis-diagnosis is very common. Do ask for the two tests for T1/LADA if his blood sugar keeps rising. He may need more meds than Metformin.

    Most important food

Hi. We don't know why you are limited to only two needles a day, but I only use one per day for my Basal/Bolus shots which typically number 7 or so with corrections. It may not work for you but worth a try?

    Bolus/ Basal question

Hi. Having the same Bolus amount at each meal isn't a good idea which is why being taught carb-counting is important. It's dead simple but not for me to explain but the job of your nurse. You need to insist it's explained and not wait for a training course. That's NHS nonsense.

    Levemir

Hi. In some ways Toujeo lasts longer and can be a better alternative if your overall control is good but for some, like me, it would not be better as I rely on being able to tweak my Basal Levemir daily as I have very bad control despite low-carbing. We are all different.

    Weight loss

Hi. Have you reduced your overall carb intake? That is different from carb counting as such. Some say that when on insulin you can eat 'normally', For some of us like me that doesn't apply. I have to keep very tight control of my carbs otherwise my BS sky-rockets. It sounds like your BS control...

    Counting carbs

Which is why it makes sense to completely ignore Calories and just take account of the Carbs plus Proteins and Fats

    Overwhelmed and defeated newbie T__T

Hi. First I don't agree with the advice given by your diabetes team to have >100gm carbs per day. Yes, carbs can increase weight but will also potentially increase BS swings. To increase weight it's better to focus on more proteins and fats where you can. I think it might be worth switching back...
