How many of us are following the low-carb diet?

Gettin lower by the day, and so are the insulin doses, and the blood sugars, and the number of hypos, and the hunger, and my respect for my health team who have told me not to do it. Spike

Any comments on DUK info, Ally?

Jeez, I only asked for a bit of advice! What's all the palaver about? All I asked was whether the advice I'd been given was reasonable or not. If I've been encouraged to reduce the fat in my diet and eat more starchy carbs instead, a second opinion shouldn't be too much to ask for? It doesn't...

Any comments on DUK info, Ally?

Hi Dave, no answer yet I'm afraid. As a nutritionist, he/she probably has a lot of people looking for answers? Maybe there's another thread where I could ask the question so it would get noticed? Thanks mate, Spike

Any comments on DUK info, Ally?

Thanks again guys. Dave P, the reason I ask is that, having followed the advice pretty closely, my health is no better. It fact it is worsening. If the first part of the Hipocratic oath is to do no harm with medical intervention, then has the dietary advice failed this test? If the advice is...

Any comments on DUK info, Ally?

Yay, it looks like I've found what I was looking for! I just joined the other day and was hoping to track down some helpful advice from a qualified medic about the foods I should be eating. Am I right in thinking you are a nutritionist ally555? I hope you don't mind me asking you, but I've been...

    Help

I really appreciate your advice guys. You seem like a decent bunch who are having lots of success with your approach to diabetes. I think I said before that I'm by nature a sceptic. Life has taught me that a certain scepticism is a good tool for winkling the truth out of awkward, hard to reach...

    Help

Thanks Ken, I appreciate that mate. I had a very good physics teacher many years ago, so things like sine waves must have stuck in my imagination. That's what my blood sugars are like tho. I should test more, but it's so ****ing depressing to see bad news all the time. Probably 7,8,9 first...

    Hello

Thanks for the warm welcome you guys. I'll do my best to give back as much as I receive. I probably need your help more than you need mine tho! Spike

    Help

Thank you Sue and cugila. My blood sugars can be anywhere from 2 to 20. No really obvious pattern other than the sine wave. But I'm eating according to my dieticians advice. Cereal and semi-skimmed milk, sandwiches, pasta, fruit. A healthy diet? Not according to my HbA1C, 7.8 the last time out...

    Help

Hello, I've just joined and wanted to cut straight to the chase. I don't know what the **** I should be eating. My blood sugar numbers are all over the place. My dietitian tells me I need to eat bread and pasta but it doesn't make sense to me. Is she right? Are there any dietitians here that can...

    Hello

Hi everybody, I've been watching from afar and finally decided to take the plunge. I'm type 1, have been for a while, and would like to make some friends here. I can offer you an open mind, a sceptical instinct and a desire to do some good. Am I in the right place? Peace 'n love Spike
