How old were you at diagnosis?

Re: How were you at diagnosis? So, between the 46 t2's that we have ages for we were a collective age of 1,166 years old, making an mean average age at dx of 44 years and ten months! Does this make us a typical bunch or not?

How old were you at diagnosis?

Hi, this kind of came from another thread. How old were all my fellow t2's at diagnosis? Thought it might be interesting to work out an average age. I was 39. Dx

    has any one else?

I had a horribly itchy rash that was diagnosed ad something called lichen planus. Some heavy duty steroid cream did the trick. We have a local gp that specialises in dermalogical problems who was the one that diagnosed it. Could be worth trying to see if you have a similar service locally. I...

Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type 2"?

Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type My GP tells me I am "just" in diabetic range, and being diagnosed so early means I can probably stave off meds for many years. Because I am a youngish t2 I have been told that one day I will probably end up on meds simply because I am...

Would you eat your way to weight loss surgery?

I do take your point Ken. But I still think he is very publically trying to play or even cheat the system. It seems non sensical to me to say that being obese makes me ill and unhappy so I will make myself bigger, iller and unhappier to get what I want. However, he must be pretty darn desperate...

Would you eat your way to weight loss surgery?

I think the Sky report said he was a traffic warden (possibly not the best profession for someone who is trying to gain public sympathy to admit to!) so he must put some miles in every day.

Hospital or Dr's Appointments - Time off.

I work flexi time and am expected to where possible make appointments out if work time, if I can't then use flexi time to " pay" for it. As a t2 diet only my appointments are minimal, it's only my six monthly reviews and retinopathy tests that fall in work time. I had my six monthly review...

Would you eat your way to weight loss surgery?

I must admit this made me pretty cross. Because he is to some extent trying to cheat the system. Almost saying to his local PCT that if he doesn't get his own way he will make himself worse! According to the sky report he is eating crisps, bread and pies to gain the weight. So carbs', carbs' and...

    Work Health Questionaire

I told my employer, because I drive as part of my duties and also I have had taken flexi time to attend the odd appointment. As it neither affects my ability to do my job or causes me to take paid off they were pretty unfazed by it.

how often do you attend a diabetic clinic

I have a check up every six months, with HB1AC and an annual check of my feet etc. I get a letter from my GP about a month before telling me to ring to make the appointments. I am a diet only T2, my last HB1AC was a not too bad 6.4.
