odd readings on Accu Check Mobile

I find the Mobile very sensitive to the amount of blood you get on the test area. If you don't get a good drop on, the reading will be high. It is very convenient, but not the most accurate meter.

Long Acting changed to 2x a day - I am confused

Interesting that you switched to Levemir rather than splitting you Lantus dose, any reason? I think Levemir has a more pronounced curve in its profile, you might try bringing your evening Levemir shot back to 6-7pm. This may cover your morning highs better (if profile peak is at 12-13 hours for...

Any type 1's here who live in Sydney?

I'm in Melbourne, not that far away. I'm sure there's a few Sydney siders here. Here are some support groups listed on Diabetes NSW, a good place to get in touch with other T1s. Of course it's worth doing your law degree, T1 shouldn't stop you doing anything, it just makes a few thing a bit...

    Exhausted

I don't think tiredness is a consequence of T1 if you have reasonable control. I'd be looking for other causes like the few mentioned above.

When I did DAFNE they split everyone's basal, they think it gives a flatter coverage. Yes, they start at 50:50

    CGM/GM Price Comparison

G4 in UK seems a little more expensive than here. My start up costs would be 1800AUD = 900 pound (got no pound key). I don't like that they offer specials, package deals and different prices in different areas. It's a medical product, it should be at the lowest possible price for everyone. It...

    CGM/GM Price Comparison

I've started looking seriously at getting a cgm and I'm getting a g4 trial in a couple of weeks. Looking at the ongoing costs, I think the g4/libre will be about the same if you can get > 14 days out of a g4 sensor. The g4 also has the major advantage of a low bgl alarm which is probably...

CGM is the most effective method for monitoring and treating diabetes

Thought I did a lot at 200ish a month. My finger tips are showing wear and tear, what are yours like?

    Which Finger?

I use them all except thumbs, don't know why, that's just the way it happens. I should try using them just to spread the load. Pinky always gives the most blood.

    Diabetic etiquette

Same, but I'm going to my 1st T1 social group lunch this weekend. Better late than never. Just go up and introduce yourself, life's too short to stuff around with etiquette.

CGM is the most effective method for monitoring and treating diabetes

As a person who doesn't have a cgm or pump, I totally agree with you @tim2000s . If you can't accurately measure the results of your procedures, you can't really tell if your procedures are working at their optimum level. I don't consider a few point in time bgls or an a1c as an accurate measure...

Corporate lunches - what would you do?

Just keep bolusing to cover the food you're about to eat just before you eat it. Don't do any corrections until 3.5 hours after eating

    xDrip Bgs on my phone

Wow, I think this is the best advert I've seen for dexcom and cgms. I love a system you can hack, especially getting readings to your phone. I want one. @DunePlodder are you still getting 20+ days out of a sensor? Are you using the xDrip as your primary reader?

    High blood sugars Type1

Missed my lunch bolus a couple of days ago. Didn't realise until postprandial test. Just used standard correction formula to get back. It's nice to have pens with memories so you can confirm the missed shot.

FatSecret, great database average UI, best I've found on android. I hear CalorieKing is good on apple (not sure if its Australia based)

    Accu-Chek mobile

This meter does give inaccurate results (high) if you don't get a decent drop of blood on it. I recently tested my wife's bgl (non-diabetic) and with a small drop (i thought it would error) we got a reading of 6.3, then repeated with a proper drop and we got 4.7. If you don't get a decent drop...

    Echo

@mammamia2006 Sorry for the confusion, I was just trying to show that you can get all the advantages of an Echo with Lantus, you just have to jump through a few hoops. You will see the advantages of the Echo over the Clikstar once you get your new pens. It would be a lot easier if Sanofi made a...

    Multiple injections, yes or no?

It's not a magic bullet and will only be as good as you make it. With MDI you have to count carbs, calculate dose adjustment, calculate BGL corrections and probably take more BGLs to make those calculations. It's not a set and forget system. If you are going to switch to it I would highly...
