    How long without insulin

I think the old rule was you wouldn't get past three days with NO insulin on board. I kicked into full DKA in under 24 hours from a dislodged pump set. I had full body cramps including my face, I was screaming in pain and they gave me morphine. I can say from experience it isn't pretty.

Is there any software better than carelink personal

I'm actually after better software than what is supplied by medtronic of any exists, like I was saying in the post, I saw the professional version of carelink and it looks far better. I may ask the CDE if I can 'obtain' a copy theirs just to see how good it actually is. Of course I don't think...

Freestyle Libre - Being high in the night

I agree Robert. I tried levemir and found I had to almost triple the dose to stop my levels rising at night and so I went back to lantus which gave me a straight line with 14 units at night compared to nearly 35 units of levemir. I would keep upping it until you find the dose that works or...

Is there any software better than carelink personal

Like the title says, I saw a copy of carelink professional at a CDE office and it looked much better than carelink personal which we get with the 640g. To get any sort of useful analysis I have to pull out the pen and paper. What software do you guys use with medtronics 640g?

    Medtronic 640g pump

(Begin rant)Yes, here in Australia the government have made it free for 21 and under! Like diabetes disappears at 21. Which I find unbelievable because teenagers are the group most likely to not use it ( I've had this cursed condition since I was 4 ) and after 40 years I feel it's adults that...

    Medtronic 640g pump

It can both predict and prevent hypos without user intervention, it is by far the best use of technoloy for diabetes on the planet.

    Start insight tomorrow

Get the basal rates right first, I cant stress that enough. Buy two books 'pumping insulin' and 'think like a pancreas'. If you live in the UK bookdepository could get them to you quickly. Knowledge is truly power and those books will give you everything you will need to make your daughters...

    Thailand

Never been to Thailand but I know my body follows circadian rhythms and I would leave the time zone as is on my pump and watch to see what happens before changing the time zone on my pump.

    Pump Accessories

I too have the 640g and the best place for stickers for all pumps, meters and CGM is by far https://pumppeelz.com/ and you can even design your own. Also for good screen protectors and quality silicone pump covers medtronic sell them at their webstore, they make excellent pink purple and blue...

Why would you recommend your diabetes clinic?

I agree with everything @tigger said in both posts. I just wanted my CDE to leave me alone, I was over her ( and she is lovely and knowledgeable) 'help' in less than a week, she understood this and left me alone. I have had this condition since I was three and truly want to be master of my own...

    Depressed

@Dod95 Often hypo symptoms show up when your blood glucose drops fast. If you gradually get to and stay at 3.2 you may have no symptoms and conversely dropping quickly from 13 to 7 can cause you to feel them.

    Manual Job.

I have a Medtronic 640g and I love it. It also has smartguard which enables the pump to predict future hypos and it will switch itself off for 2 hours and come back on when you sugars are in a safe zone thus preventing hypos. It can do this all while you sleep which means it can prevent hypos...

    Depressed

That @Dod95 is one of the greatest insights i've read in forty yeas of T1D. Your going to be an excellent healthcare professional. You will feel much better emotionally when your sugars are stable for awhile.

    Pizza!

Strange, when on injections I never had problems even eating nearly a whole large pizza. However when I moved to a pump suddenly eating pizza got a whole lot more complicated. Wow some of these pizzas and recipes are making my mouth water though.

    1.7mmol hypo

Hey Vaper I also did bolus injections in abdomen and inject long acting insulin in random spots like thighs, rear, occasionally the abdomen, when not using the pump.

    Tired of inflamed sites

Is it infection or is it alergy? If it's alergy use a tegaderm over your skin and shoot the set through that. If it's infection wipe the area with chlorhexidine until dry and either cover it with a tegaderm and put the set through again or forgo the tegaderm and just put your set through the dry...
