    strange question i know......

my son lost a stone, which is a lot as he's not tall and very sporty, so no fat at all. his wee was off the scale with ketones too. since insulin has made him feel better, he has had a ridiculous appetite. he has put 8 pounds back on already and his appetite is decreasing slowly.

    hypos.....

what a great idea!!! i SO wish they had done that to my son in hospital. it makes complete sense. the child would feel secure as they would be in a controlled enviroment with qualified help by their side, and would know from that moment on what signs to look out for. i reckon he'd feel more...

    hypos.....

hey hanadr..... they arrived today! i talked about it with my son and he said he would be more comfortable and feel more secure if i could hear him throughout the night. he knows he can call me if he feels the slightest bit odd and i'll go to him, rather than him struggling in the dark to get...

yipster......thank you. i look like a paramedic when we go out!! glucose sweets, lucozade, glucogel, glucagon injection. he has a snack at 20:45 when he injects his levemir, so sounds like i should keep that up. not too much, a toated bagel or a small ham or chicken wholemeal roll or 2 slices of...

    hypos.....

kegstore...thanks again. we plan to keep good control, so hopefully, we can limit them. as much as i have been dreading his first one, in a weird way i want to be past it, so we all know what we're dealing with. i have visions of seizures, fits and exorcist style head spinning, so have obviously...

    hi to everyone.....

thanks very much guys. i really appreciate you taking the time to answer. maybe i just need to get over his first hypo. i guess a lot of it could be fear of the unknown. i have this awful dread that he could have a really bad hypo and something awful happen.

    hi to everyone.....

unfortunately my 9 yr old son was diagnosed with type 1 last week. my wife and i are trying to come to terms with this, as is my son. he is doing quite well most of the time, but has had a couple of very low, tearful moments. i am very nervous about his first hypo! at the moment he is taking...
