    A few issues with employer

Hello, Usually I've no problems with places I've worked and everyone has always been very accommodating. However, I'm currently temping at an office where my diabetes keeps getting brought up as an issue. I had a couple of hypos - just minor ones - and was able to sort them out myself. They...

    Well done! That's excellent! :D I thought I was bad on 6 a day... :P

    Glucorx

Just an update... the meter seems okay though takes ages to take up the blood so I have ended up with blood dripping down my fingers which, when a cream couch, was annoying! But I'm getting a hang of it. Iddt hasn't gotten back to me yet but I'm sure they're busy so I might ring them next...

    Glucorx

I've to pick it up from my surgery but can't get there until tomorrow late afternoon, so I'll let you know how I go. Today from the diabetes clinic I got a new Luxura HD pen for my Humalog, a new Freestyle meter and a new Clikstar pen for my Lantus as they're stopping making Optipens. Along...

    Glucorx

I tried saying I was happy with mine but they won't prescribe anything else. Was at the ocdem today and the nurse is going to write a letter insisting I'm prescribed ketone blood testing strips as she says that not having access to blood ketone testing could be dangerous. I really an surprised...

    sunshine and diabetes

I was told that your insulin absorbs faster so it can often lead to hypos. I dunno about days off though! :lolno:

    Glucorx

Hello everyone, I've just been told by my doctor that Oxfordshire PCT only use the Glucorx meters now and that I cannot have strips for any other meter unless I go through the private prescription route. Has anyone used this meter? What did you like/dislike about it? Also, this means I have...

    WHY?

I always hear my dad shouting when I listen to certain music - Meat Loaf in particular - I used to think it was him when I lived with him but now he's up in Scotland and I'm down in England so it's definitely not him!

    Pregnancy and type 1

Hi Emma, I saw that no-one had responded to this so I thought I would, even though it's probably not the response you're looking for. My pregnancy was absolutely amazing. Never had such good sugar levels and I felt better than I ever have. If I could be pregnant all the time, I would...

    Hypo Migraines

I get these a lot when I have hypos in my sleep. Had a particularly bad one yesterday morning as I also have a cold so the blocked sinus along with the hypo in my sleep meant my head was thumping. I used to wake up with headaches a lot and my doctor blamed hypos in my sleep so I just put up...

    Neuropathy

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, Stevie. I'll be interested to see what they do with me as I've just got my referral letter asking me to book an appointment with the diabetes team at Churchill Hospital in Oxford.

It might be worth posting your own thread, sisterdainty. It might help more people find out about your sister. :)

    Neuropathy

Thanks for the links, alaska. I hadn't seen those and will have a look in a sec. :) I'm sorry to hear about your sister, sisterdainty. Her situation is what I dread the most, can't imagine what you and your family are going through seeing it. I hope there is someone who can give you some...

    Tiredness

I do have quite a few hypos a week, trying to get tighter control makes my sugar quite low, which I expect. I'm also on Lantus but Humalog with my meals. Luckily I can recognise my hypos really early, around 3.5-4. I'm struggling with middle of the night hypos - which I wake up for and...

'dont' inject in a public toilet !

I've never had anyone have a problem with me injecting in front of them and I don't give enough of a toss about strangers to care if they are bothered about me injecting. I'll inject walking down a street if I need to. You wouldn't stop an asthmatic taking their inhaler... and an insulin pen...

    Frozen Feet !

My feet are incredibly cold all the time but particularly in this weather. I think the pins and needles in my feet are due to the cold more than neuropathy. Unfortunately, my dog won't let me put my feet on her - and she is a collie! - but she does like snuggling when we sleep, so at least my...

    Tiredness

I'm permanently tired. After 8pm, I just feel like sleeping most nights. But hopefully with my referral up to the diabetic clinic, I might get some answers about it. I can't even work full time because I'm so exhausted, make mistakes at work and suffer from anxiety and depression as a result...

    Neuropathy

Thanks, Ed. On one hand, it's good if no-one replies because that'd mean no-one's got neuropathy! But on the other, it'd be great for me to know more about the condition. I'm too scared to Google in case I get pictures of gangrene and all the other horrific things people like to put pictures...

    Living with type 1 diabetes

Thanks, Bob. I am usually okay and certainly don't let diabetes turn me into a victim in day to day life but things have been hard for me. I imagine everyone else here has hard things in their lives too dealing with their diabetes so I don't feel unique in that. :) However, I feel like...

    Living with type 1 diabetes

Hi Jessica, I'm 29, been diabetic since my 12th birthday, so it'll be 18 years this April that I've been diabetic. I remember being diagnosed and feeling a lot of 'why me?', throughout my life, this has often been something I ask myself. My family felt a lot of guilt because they'd been...
