    high bgs after op

Agree with Nicola - stress hormones would keep you elevated not the pain killers, I think it can take a while for this to wear off - Ellie has made a good point as you should follow sick day rules and keep well hydrated too, good wishes for the recovery.

    Cannula issues

Hi - ok that explains the blood, I get the same however mine in part are also due to using Ljumjev which has a preservative which irritates the site and then cause blood to leak too, there isn't a solution to my knowledge except site change and perhaps revert to a manual injection to counter the...

78[emoji646]g and Simplera reading vastly different to Blood Glucose

Sensors can take up to 24 hours to bed in with readings so checking against a meter is going to have some anomalies to start, then there's the 20 min lag against sensor vs actual too, I tend to just accept the first 24 hours as a wobble before looking seriously at inaccuracies.

    Cannula issues

Hi Rach - what sets are you using ? I use steel cannula sets and get blood around the set, if I feel I am running high due to this and no other factors i'll either just change the 1st part of the set with the tip and do a tube fill or if insulin is running low on the pump then i'll change the...

    Blood sugars out of control

Hi @laynecobain Welcome to the forum :) Today is always a good day to start getting a handle on things, it would help to know more so what insulins are you using and what delivery system so injections/pump, also are you using a sensor or a glucose meter ? Although we can speak from...

    NEW CGM ANOTHER HYPO!!!

Ok next time you site a sensor on your arm just check it's not in an area you are likely to sleep on and hopefully you won't get this happen. I have to admit even if I go low during the night I still mostly sleep through them, having become immune to the sound of the alarm, I know you don't...

    NEW CGM ANOTHER HYPO!!!

Did you feel groggy upon waking ? Unless you feel slightly out of sorts it's safe to assume a false low from a compression - try using the inside of your arms to site the sensor so you don't sleep on it.

    NEW CGM ANOTHER HYPO!!!

Did you check this against a glucose meter to confirm it was a real hypo and not a false hypo caused by a compression when the sensor is slept on ?

    Cholesterol again!

I was paranoid about taking statins but as I fall into the 'at risk' category I decided to bite the bullet and take them, tbh I don't know what all the hype was about, have had minimal side effects that could be related to either being menopausal, t1d or just getting older, i.e. aching joints...

    Tired of feeling unwell

Hello Nicola, Sorry to hear of the issues you have had to deal with in managing your t1d. What type of support do you get with your t1d management, so are you under the care of a specialist Diabetes team ? Have you ever completed any course for t1d such as Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating ...

    Long Hypo!!

Hello @Neckarski_94 Please speak to your DSN and get some support, not sure if you feel that you can't or just don't want to, but asking for help is vital when living with this, I had some massive issues not long after diagnosis and didn't know who to turn to, as a mum I had a child to support...

    Just found out I’m pregnant

Congratulations. Firstly do not panic, stress doesn’t help you or baby neither does ruminating on past few months control, it is what it is. Going forward you will be closely monitored by your team so reviewing ratios with them and getting support is vital as you navigate forward. Honestly we...

    Long Hypo!!

Agree with Tony - you need to keep your phone within range of your sensor, our worst hypos are often around 3am when we run at our lowest during the night, it's better to have an alarm buzzing so you can treat it rather than blue lights.

    Long Hypo!!

Looks like a compression low - sudden dip and no sensation after the event of feeling low, I try to keep sensors off the side of my arms and on the back when less likely to sleep on them - these are always best checked against a BG meter if you do wake up though.

travelling for 1st time with Type 1 child

@Lea Fowler Your welcome - it's always daunting doing something for the first time so understand completely your feelings about this, but the better prepared you are then the more easier it is to deal with any situation, I went away shortly after getting a pump and only took 2 infusion sets with...

travelling for 1st time with Type 1 child

Hello @Lea Fowler Many of us travel via airports so the staff at airports understand well about not putting us through the body scanners, we normally get a pat down, you can carry a letter from your GP explaining the patient's T1d status if you wish but in my 14 years travelling 2-3 times a year...

    Blood sugars out of control

Tbh the menopause isn't something to be afraid of - I embraced HRT and it's been brilliant for my control, prior to that I was out of control for 1 week each month going from insulin resistant to hypoland, it was tiring to deal with and it wasn't great for my mental health either. Start with...

    Newly diagnosed and totally overwhelmed

I was exactly the same at age 37 years, my world fell apart, I remember coming on here to get support and a former mod on the site helped me massively which encouraged me. Here's what I can tell you, it is hard to deal with, there's no denying it's something none of us want, we would all love...

    Blood sugars out of control

Agree with Antje - perimenopause can cause insulin resistance, so being female it has a direct impact on our t1d, I am peri and on HRT which has helped massively, it's given me a level playing field, best to have a chat with your GP if you think it could be this. Also agree to basal testing...
