    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I maintained this week, really. 79.4kg. After almost a week in Paris that isn't surprising, even with the increased walking, as I am still new to lchf diet, and had trouble finding alternatives for breakfast and lunch (and sometimes dinner at some of the restaurants.) I went to the store today...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I dove below 80 kg! 79.6 kg, to be exact. That makes it 8 kg lost so far on my diabetes, LCHF journey which started January 9th this year. My goal right now is 75 kg, and then I'll reassess and readjust.

    Few Questions

Muscle mass is built with proteins, not carbs. That's why they have these protein shakes etc that my male pupils drink all the time to bulk up their muscles (as well as going to the gym, of course.) If you want to get bigger muscles, eat more protein, but be aware that protein does get converted...

    According to my union rep.

Pshaw on the diabetes and blood pressure thing. My blood pressure is 110/70, which I do believe is excellent. (It probably shot up as I read what you wrote, though, and as a union rep myself, I blush in shame over the ignorance your rep is displaying.)

    Eye screening.

It's really not as bad as you might think. I had some rifts on my retinas five years ago, discovered at the optician, and have elected to check my retinas yearly ever since. I am quite myopic, which means that my retinas are very thin, and therefore more prone to tearing. My doctor has referred...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I snuck a peek at the scales this morning (I had intended to wait until early April to check my weight unless my clothes started getting tighter.) When I weighed myself at Christmas (at my Mom's place), I was 87.5 kg. I am aiming for a 10% reduction initially, and this morning 80.7 kg!! Nearly 7...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.0 at around 9 a.m. (late mornings! I knew there was a reason I loved Saturdays.)

Type 2 Good BG numbers, but still....

@miahara and @Resurgam, yeah, I meant that the fat delayed the spike. Usually I am back to "normal" levels at 2hrs, and so I don't often have to measure at 3hrs.

Type 2 Good BG numbers, but still....

@bulkbiker Thanks for the reminder! I tried to sign up with another nick previously, but the email addy didn't work with the forum. I couldn't get the confirmation email, so while I could log in and set up my profile, I couldn't post. I had to abandon that identity and try again. Yes, I am a...

Type 2 Good BG numbers, but still....

I think I need to be reassured about my BG numbers. They are generally below 5.3 fasting, and between 5 and 7 consistently post-prandially, and I know that is good. This evening I ate two slices of ordinary, whole-meal bread with eggs and bacon for dinner because of convenience. I forgot to...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.8 at 6a.m, which pleases me greatly.

Type 2 What are optimal blood glucose levels? Practical measuring questions.

Thank you for your reply. I am definitely buying that book for my kindle - just reading the preview on Amazon taught me things I didn't know. I always thought my flatulence problem was caused by the removal of my gallbladder, but several of the patient testimonies in the book mentions it and...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.0 today, even though I dared eat some (oven-baked) fries yesterday. Trying out some carbs to see how my body reacts to them after a couple of weeks of (very low-carb) 'rest' - don't intend to make them a regular part of my diet, but I need to figure out what is the least harmful for when...

Type 2 What are optimal blood glucose levels? Practical measuring questions.

I am a recently diagnosed type 2, and have been reading as much as possible about how to eat and what to do. I have seen Daisy's posts for the newly diagnosed, where the NICE recommendations are included. However, I am well below the recommendation for diabetics right now (I was diagnosed based...

    Head in the sand syndrome

I am certainly not an expert, considering I've only been diagnosed for three weeks and change, but my doctor told me something similar to what Freema said. He said, "you are going to stumble. That's expected. We're only human. But try to plan some breaks into your diet, once a week. Allow...
