    Hypo

My Background insulin has gone down quite a bit since diagnosis, 25 Levemir to 15. At the higher level had a lot of hypos, and my 3 month check was too low they told me I was running my BG too low. Maybe worth reviewing your background insulin.

    Monitoring

hey Tony, intiguing post. The 21 %, are they those that aren't aware they have diabetes? What's your lifestylye that precludes you from testing? I'm a relatively newly diagnosed type1, I have a very varied schedule, lots of travel, I see it as my routine I can't control, but my testing I...

    Skiing

I am a type 1, I snowboard not ski, but imagine the principles will be similar. I'm aged 39, I was diagnosed in Jan 13, and went snowboarding for the first time since then a few weeks ago. I had a lot of trepidation before going, due to the unknowns, but felt it was time to get back on the...

HbA1c - can it be too low?

My last was 41 and I was told it was too low. I'm relatively new to diabetes so I don't know what the real risk is of running at 6-8 vs 5-6. All that I know is that I can't run at 4-6 if I'm to lead a normalish life, I do quite a lot of exercise which makes my BG quite unpredictable. Is...

New member and type 1.5.....I think!

I'm awaiting my blood test results as to whether T1 or T2, as per my consultants direction. I think I'm what I like to call a "T whatever" due to a bout of acute severe pancreatitis 5 years ago. I use very little insulin, 15 units levemir + 6-9 units Novarapid a day (I don't eat breakfast)...

Testing strips - how many do you get?

I tried to order more than 1 of the little tubs of 50 on my prescription and they gave me 1 which will last about 9-10 days. So I'm forced to go and collect the prescriptions weekly. It does not make sense, it is just more admin for everyone.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

41 in new money. I don't know the old money as only diagnosed in January. I was told this is too low, and that I may have trouble detecting hypos.

how high and how low have you been?

42 when I collapsed and went into hospital, lowest 2.3, all this year. My latest HBA1C was 41.

    Sort of new type 1

Hi, been working away for a while and now back for a bit. I have seen my DN and have taken advice to reduce my levemir, and increase my Novorapid with meals, this seems to have helped with the hypos. My feet seem a bit better, and the nerve damage does seem to be slowly repairing itself...

    Sort of new type 1

I think this is the case, I have an appointment with a consultant next week and will raise it then. It has got a lot better in recent weeks. Thanks for the feedback.

    Carb counting waiting times

Diagnosed in Jan, still haven't been on a carb counting course despite requests. Only had my retinaopothy last week for the first time, and then only after my GP offered to sort it out due to the uselessness (is that a word?) of my hospital team, which insist I'm their patient as a type 1.

    Sort of new type 1

Hello, I was actually diagnosed as a type 1 in January, registered on here some months ago, but probably now only ready to discuss my terrible experience. I went into A&E with >40 MMOL, basically they wondered how I actually functioned. I'd lost loads of weight, and anyone who hadn't seen me...
