Type 1 who just cant lose weight

Sedate cycling does not have the same health benefits as more intense exercise. Look at the CDC references on the subject. What are your weekly mileages and vertical?

    Meta-analysis of low carb

A diet which has been used by diabetics for centuries and is currently used by literally millions around the world, yet there is no good research on it. Of course not. No drug company wants to fund research that will show their drugs are unnecessary. And no researcher wants to do research which...

    Hypo on a Keto diet

Like those statin-pushing doctors, keto people refuse to believe there are any problems with the treatment they advocate. Ask why they won't even let the downsides be discussed at their meetings.

Do those with HBA1C less than 30 still have neuropathy

In the Joslin cohort, patients with lower HbA1c's were just as likely to have neuropathy. Another study has shown HbA1c to be of no predictive value once other factors were taken into account. There is much more to diabetes than sugar control.

    What's your C-peptide value?

There are many examples of serum markers in other inflammatory / autoimmune diseases being affected by lifestyle choices, but many diabetics still believe that C-peptide levels are determined purely by genetics or luck, not diet or other factors. There is no evidence to support this belief.

Low Carb Breckenridge 2017 video presentations

As her endocrinologist said to my friend, sugar control is NOT the most important part of managing T2. Low carb Breckenridge continued to ignore all the evidence behind that statement.

Low Carb Breckenridge 2017 video presentations

Dr Tamsin Lewis has written plenty on the dangers of keto/vlc. She advocates carbs for racing, and quite a few other circumstances.

Low Carb Breckenridge 2017 video presentations

I recently placed 1st in the M55 division of the ACT sprint distance orienteering championships. Certainly not by following advice of the sort presented at Low Carb Breckenridge. In fact I'm yet to hear of any T1 my age getting good results in Masters athletics with long term VLC. The reason why...

    healthiest hearts in the world

No responses to the question in my previous post. Can I now ask a related question? How many T1s of retirement age are getting good results in competitive athletics using a VLC or Bernstein type approach (not including ultra events)

    healthiest hearts in the world

Is the Tsimane diet relevant to T1s? If your aim is to have a heart good enough to be a competitive athlete when you are past retirement age, then note that a 72% carb diet has never been reported to work well. There are tens of thousands of T1s online, yet after decades of searching, I find no...

Jardiance now includes cardiovascular risk reduction data on labels in Europe

A new drug. Like every other new drug, the long-term side effects will take a few years to become apparent, and the degree of benefit will be downgraded over time.

Sitting less and walking more could reduce fasting insulin levels by 11 per cent

A Royal Commission into medical research is sorely needed to reveal the extent of corruption and incompetence.

What research do you want done?

As the story on sleep apnoea and diabetes says, the association has been known for 20 years. Now we have a more precise estimate of the degree of association. Is this the kind of research people with diabetes want? Or would you rather research that tests treatments. If you could direct...

Type 1: Would exercise help improve overall blood sugar control?.

Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death and disability among diabetics. Consider the effect of exercise on CVD, not just HbA1c or weight.

Low-carb diet more effective for short-term weight loss than low-fat diet, says review

Emphasis here on short term. Where is the evidence on long term effects ie over many decades? Doctors assert, without evidence, that lchf results in poorer long term health due to dyslipidaemia. Why is research into long term effects not being done, and why have medical researchers repeatedly...

Data mining without pre-specified hypotheses. And perhaps you would like to comment on what happens to allegedly anonymized data at some universities.

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

IanD, are you not aware what happens to some people who post details of their T1 treatment on the internet? Decades after diagnosis, I am complication free and very successful at managing my T1, despite also being on steroids. My physical performance exceeds 99.9% of my peers. Yet I won't be...
