Forgot to add that my HbA1c has gone down from 61mmol/mol to 39mmol/mol. In old money that's 7.7 down to 5.7 I've achieved this in 3 months with diet and exercise. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    How effective is Metformin

How effective is Metformin at lowering BG? I have recently kicked myself into touch and my recent HbA1c was 39mmol/mol, so quite pleased with that result. This was achieved through diet and exercise. I also lost a stone in weight and my BMI is now 27 instead of 30. I already take 2,000 Metformin...

    Help?!?

Metformin is know to cause stomach upsets. My DN wanted to up mine to 2,000 and I said I couldn't take any more stomach upsets. I think the reason they prescribe the regular Metformin rather than the sr is because it is cheaper. I'm now on the sr and stomach has improved dramatically. Good luck...

    Horrible smell

Do you have any redness underneath your breast. This is an area where you can develop thrush, due to sweating. Creams are available over the counter for thrush. Have a google and see if you can find similar symptoms. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

How does my new lifestyle sound?

I try to low carb as much as possible. Seems to be working for me. I spoil myself once a week with a shared Chinese takeaway. I try to eat only a few spoonfuls of rice and top up on veggies. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    metformin. can't do it anymore

I wasn't warned of the terrible side effects of taking Metfartin when I first started. I had to visit the loo several times a day and on quite a few occasions ran up the stairs and only just made it. I was put on Metfartin slow release and I feel much better on that. Glad you changed to another...

    Diverticulosis

Robin, I found the article totally confusing and goes against what works for me. If I lessened the amount of fibre I eat and not take bulking agents I would find it really difficult to stay regular. After my last flare up it has left me with lack of sensation, where previously I had too much of...

I've been on metformin for several years and sitagliptin added a couple of years ago. I've just been changed on a slow release metformin. But I've had DD for a lot longer. I changed my diet a few months ago to higher fibre and lower carb. I've lost weight and awaiting my latest HbA1c results...

    Diverticulosis

I was diagnosed with DD more than 15 years ago, after suffering with constipation after taking painkillers that bunged me up. Over the years I've suffered constipation and diahorrea. I don't often get a flare up and if I do it only usually last 24 hours, lots of wind and pain on lower left of...
