    Help re milk please

I'm experimenting at the moment with the Arla lactose free milk, since although they turn the lactose into glucose (making it worse) they remove a lot of the sugar so the net sugar content is half (which isn't the case on other lactose free brands). Plan next week is to drink 200 ml of hot...

Reversing T2 versus lowering hba1c, LCHF versus low calorie

Even Taylor supports low carb as a route to achieve remission. If the person behind the Direct study says its one way to do it why not accept it: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2023/apr/09/british-doctor-pioneers-low-carb-diet-as-cure-for-obesity-and-type-2-diabetes Note the irony of him...

    Freestyle libre readings

That would require patience and self-control. Joking aside, this was the first time activating same day didn't work for me. I have had better results today, but I'm also using an app called Shuggah to monitor it instead which gives better results so far.

    Freestyle libre readings

I was impressed with the Libre previously but on trying again today its out by a full 2 mmol/l. I think I need to take more care on location.

    Need more info

Metformin - you're correct it won't solve anything on its own. But I don't see the logic of throwing the medicine in the bin until you've actually sorted the problem by diet. As I said in the other thread, you can get slow release metformin, so try that at a low dose in the meantime, and work at...

    Beware the label!

if you think that is bad then look at the Asda sucralose sweetener. 1% sucralose, 99% maltodextrin.

Long-term metformin woes; has anybody experience quitting?

NHS guidance is slow release on gastric issues so you should have no issues getting it changed. https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/metformin/how-and-when-to-take-metformin/ .

    Eating out nightmare

Until the NHS completes its slow pivot towards recognising low carb diets and begins pushing it publicly as the primary diet for diabetics, I don't expect anything from restaurants. A customer claiming that their type 2 diabetes means they can't eat brown pasta may be right, but it is going to...

Low Carb - colder hands and feet

I definitely notice the cold a lot more since the diet change, although I'm not sure how much of it is due to lower fat levels.

    Help re milk please

I find I don't use much milk in some black teas compared to what I'd instinctively add to others, maybe you might feel the same? If you were going low carb then cream would be a good substitute but obviously not in this case.

    How, I mean, just how??

One of the joys of type 2 is getting into cooking. Bread first, muffins next, and now I have this to add to my homework list.

    Lactose free milk

Well I got an answer, they remove 40% of the lactose and rest becomes glucose:

    Wheaten bread

I've made your bread twice now, works great, but the dough is pretty stiff so making it look pretty like that is beyond me. I'm wondering if I intentionally overdid the yeast or added some baking powder, would it make for a decent roll using this recipe?

    Lactose free milk

Are all lactose free milks the same? Most lactose free milks have the sugar content at 4.5 to 5 g, essentially the same as normal milk, due to the lactose sugar conversion to glucose. However the Arla lactose free milk is stated as 2.6 g of carbs per 100 ml, all sugars. This is about half that...

1 minute microwave scrambled egg options

Cheers for the suggestions. The breakfast muffins or another type of low carb might work, sort of an eggs benedict idea.

Health & Safety Issue - CGM monitoring v Work Site Rules

If you are working in areas classified as hazardous areas under a code such as BS60079 then as you will know equipment brought regularly into those areas must be ATEX certified, and these items are not. You might be allowed by carrying a portable gas detector under a work permit on an occasional...

    Newly Diagnosed

They will take you off metformin if you get into the remission range, after all it costs them money... Until then, why not have that help in reducing your insulin resistance more, its got no real downsides unless you are missing the alcohol.
