Salted/spiced/chilli nuts etc. - are they ever OK to eat?

When trying to avoid spikes in blood sugar - is it safe to eat chilli or salted nuts? I often find myself buying packets of raw peanuts, almonds, cashews etc and then they just go to waste because I don't enjoy eating them.

I thought I might try some salted or chilli ones - but the back of packets all say they have some sugar in.. so not sure if they're any better than a packet of crisps.

Thanks!

I actually like the salt and vinegar peanuts from KP. 30g of them is 2.2g of carbs which I’m able to fit in with my carb limits and not spike my blood glucose.

But they are only an occasional snack and I do have to weigh them out and put the rest away as it would be far too easy to consume a lot in one go.

Obviously, your BG reaction may vary and other brands might be more.

Read the pack to see how many carbs they have, that is in total. KP chilli nuts are 2.3g carbs per 30g helping.

Bit expensive but I love salted macadamias from M&S, they are one of the lowest nuts carb wise but full of good fats so a 30g portion is quite filling and satisfying (sorry can’t quite recall the carb count and don’t have any at the moment to check)

I eat a lot of nuts - usually Lidl's unsalted ones.
But I am very aware of the ones which have more carbs in such as peanuts and cashews.
I tend to favour pecans, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts

I eat nuts daily but not salted or otherwise flavoured.
I eat Brazil Pistachios and Almonds. I can't get my teeth through the Brazils and Almonds so have to cop them up a bit.
They go with my blueberries into porridge or full fat bio yoghurt again no flavourings no added sugar.
It's all part of my plates before pills mentality and seeing as I'm on strong opiates they also stop me getting constipated.

I’m not worried about the salt or chilli. I do check if they’ve added sugar though. I also avoid cashews and pistachios as they are higher carb.

I eat salted nuts (not peanuts or cashews though, which for me are too much carb) - mainly almonds and hazelnuts. I don't eat the chilli ones because of the carb/sugar in the chilli coating. Still looking for a non-carby chilli option.

pistachios aren't too bad though - as long as you keep the number under control? I think it's about 2g of carbs per 10 pistachios, which is good for a wee popcorn substitute snack in front of the tele in my daily carb-count. I use the ones I have to shell, to make it easier to not eat so many... too much trouble!

The shells also shame you by their presence if you are tempted to over-indulge.

I go on self destruct with peanuts and walnut's and have had my hands slapped in the process :nailbiting:

For me, it's no nuts or all the nuts. Hence I never eat nuts. We have to choose our battles!

So true!
First fill the small bowl you took expressly for that purpose. Then fill the ashtray. then Fill a random glass you forgot to take to the kitchen. And then wake up because the cat knocked over both ashtray and random glass and you're now laying in a bed full of pistachio shells. :bag:
