    Is it safe?

Thank you all so much for your informative replies. I am going to buy this https://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/codefree-blood-glucose-monitoring-system-mmoll-or-mgdl/ (as the strips look cheaper). Thanks to this forum for recommendations. I'm a bit of a needle phobe and am not sure how I...

    Is it safe?

Hi. I was diagnosed with T2 last week and have an HbA1c of 80 mol. I started the Exante diet 11 days ago and it is the 600 calories a day (3 shakes) plan. The shakes have around 17g carbs each (or 20g if I have one of their bars). They market themselves as being good for putting Type 2 in...

    worried/ lots of questions

@Bluetit1802 How often should a newly diagnosed person test their blood glucose? Is it after each meal? If I eventually manage to go into remission would I still need to test as often/ at all? Sorry if my questions have obvious answers, I am worried about my glucose levels getting worse and...

    no onions no garlic

@Veryanxious Just as a reply- I don't belong to the baniya community. I have taken diskha from a Gaudiya Vaishnava guru and follow a lacto vegetarian diet ,with no onions/garlic ,as part of my initiation vows. ( I was vegetarian before that though). Generally, vaishnavas will be vegetarian...

I was eating chapatis and dal every day. I will look at some tofu recipes . The soya chunks I use are like TVP (textured vegetable protein).

    no onions no garlic

[I use asafoetida in my cooking (well, I did until I started this Exante diet!). Now I am not really sure what to do because I thought the best thing was to lose weight, but I don't know if these shakes are low enough in carbs- they have about 17 g each sachet.

    worried/ lots of questions

Thanks for your informative reply. I am using the Exante diet. The shakes are 17g , bars are 21g and soups 17g of carbs. I think I've read the right bit of the nutritional info. I have one of each per day. My Dr said it is ok, as I have to lose weight too. I am waiting for my appointment to...

    worried/ lots of questions

Thank you so much for your encouragement. That is amazing how you got your blood sugar level down so quickly. I think it is the vision issue that has really worried me. Now that I have read up a bit on T2 I notice things that I didn't worry about before like my feet tingling and waking up...

    worried/ lots of questions

Thank you for your good wishes. It is the Exante diet- 600 calories as day to start with and then you move up to 800 (2 shakes and a healthy meal ) after some time. They have several testimonials from people whose type 2 went down to normal blood sugar levels using it so I hope it will work for me.

Thanks for replying and sharing these great ideas. i don't eat much diary anyway so could probably go vegan again quite easily. Do you know if dal and soya chunks are ok to eat on a low carb diet?

    no onions no garlic

I follow Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Yes, in the Bhagavad Gita it is stated that onion and garlic are in the categories of passion and ignorance. Thanks for your replies.

    worried/ lots of questions

Thank you for your reassuring reply. I have been prescribed the slow release version as I'd spoken to a few colleagues who had been ill taking the regular Metformin. I am eating 3 diet shakes per day and take the tablet after . Hopefully that should be ok. I really don't know much about...

    no onions no garlic

Hi. I am lacto vegetarian, but due to my religion do not cook with onions or garlic. I have been newly diagnosed with Type 2 and wondered if any one can recommend recipes/ a book that would have low carb recipes that are vege (egg free too) and no onion/garlic? I'm guessing there might not be...

    worried/ lots of questions

Thank you all who replied for your friendly welcome and relevant advice. It has made me feel less anxious having the hope that the blurriness will go. I am struggling at work (I'm a teacher) due to my vision at the moment. I have been on the very low calorie low carb diet for 9 days now and...

    worried/ lots of questions

I have just been diagnosed with type 2 and my HbA1c was 80. My vision is blurry and I am worried about permanent damage to my sight. Will the blurriness go once my blood sugar level goes down? I have started a very low calorie diet (low carb) to try to reduce my weight quickly and hope that...
