Good news and not so good...Fatty liver

Hi Ross. Still working on it. I think that I'll be requesting a further liver scan after say, 6 months, to see where I'm at with it. I have to say that Dr. Michael Mosely expounds the benefits of the low carb diet in helping with getting rid of visceral fat, so here's hoping

    Hello. I'm new & I'm Type 2.

Hey Paula. Well done with your progress so far and you positive attitude. I am also recently diagnosed and packed in the ciggies too. I found NHS quit smoking clinic really good and have had patches and mouth spray on free prescription, along with an occasional vape. 12 weeks now and it's all...

    New diet in Daily Mail

As my husband gets the Mail I read the article with interest and, although I don't think it tells us who come on this website anything new, I think it would be of interest to people who may not have any awareness of the damage done by blood glucose, so that's got to be a good thing :cat: I await...

    A bit confused about fasting

Thanks both for your responses. I think I'll just carry on with what I'm currently doing and see how I get on - it still sounds a bit scary to me :***:

    Newly diagnosed Type2

Hi there Shoegal and welcome to the best place for good advice and friendly support. Sorry you've had funny turns, it's very disconcerting for you. I've just had the occasional light headedness. I have to agree with daibell regarding your diet, maybe the time has come to go down the low carb...

    poor circulation

I was diagnosed type 2 in November and I've lost about a stone in weight. I've found that my feet do get very cold too, but not all the the time. My hands are often cold too and some of my fingers go white and numb as I have Reynauds Syndrome. I just put thermal socks on and always wear gloves...

    A bit confused about fasting

Hello. I'm a little confused over fasting for type2. Wouldn't your blood sugar drop and cause a problem with hypo? Does fasting mean no food or drink at all or like the 5:2 a lot less food on a fasting day? It doesn't seem to make sense although I know that a lot do it. I'm a good weight and bmi...

Good news and not so good...Fatty liver

Hi letsy. I know, it feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth although I understand that there are thousands of people that are unaware that they have it, and it doesn't necessarily cause a problem. I suppose its better to know and be able to deal with it  good luck. Jan x

Good news and not so good...Fatty liver

Hi Bulkbiker. I had an abdominal ultrasound scan because my blood test indicated raised something or other (can't remember!), which was how it was diagnosed. I'm certainly concerned about it, it came as a further shock after trying to get used to the fact that I have diabetes. I'm floundering a...

    Type 2 carbs?

Hello. When I first joined the forum a few weeks ago someone kindly advised me to get 'Carbs & Cals Pocket Counter' £9.99 from Amazon. I have to say that it's a great little book and easy to see at a glance with pictures, all nutritional amounts for loads of different foods. It helps that you...

Good news and not so good...Fatty liver

Well, that's stirred up plenty of interesting comments. In my research I was aware of some advice that appeared to be unclear. I did see something that suggested that having had your gall bladder removed may have a contributing effect to NAFLD, mine was removed about 20 years ago. :wacky:

Good news and not so good...Fatty liver

Thanks for responses, zand, eurobuff and Chelepoo. I've lost about ten pounds thus far, so it seems I have a way to go to lose 15% body weight. My bmi is 24. I dance for an hour four times a week. I think I'm going to have to be a bit stricter with myself with both diet and exercise. I think I...

Good news and not so good...Fatty liver

I have type 2 recently diagnosed and I have gone to great lengths researching diet, lifestyle changes etc (mostly from these forums) and have felt fairly confident that all was well for me, and I had a handle on it all. I received a meter and strips from my GP without any trouble.:) I went to...

Diagnosed with Type 2 a month ago today....

Hello and welcome, you've come to the right place for friendly help and support. Just thought I'd mention that I too smoked and felt that giving up was an insurmountable problem especially when having to completely overhaul my diet. I was advised to go to the NHS quit smoking clinic and they...
