Should we do as we are told?

To a certain extent follow the advice of medical experts - however - use your brain and research things for yourself and don't be a doormat or a fool - after all it is your body and you know it best. Plus Drs aren't always right and can make mistakes - they don't know everything.

    feeling down...

It's hard to know why you are feeling ill if you aren't checking your blood sugars. It appears that Nurses often tell Type II diabetics that they don't need to test - but how do you know what foods are good for you and what aren't if you don't test? It's a catch 22 situation. When do you get...

Hi Rachelle - welcome to the forum. That is definitely a high reading for first thing in a morning. What medication are you on? What is your diet like? Hope you find some answers going through the forum.

    feeling down...

5.3 isn't low - but it is for you (if you get what I mean). Your body will be used to being high all the time and will take a bit of time to adjust to being normal. Are you testing your blood regularly? How is your eating? Hope you start to feel better soon.

Change in Diet, Change in Numbers - Should I Worry?

Ok in respect of your diet - do you keep an eye on your calories? I use MyFitnessPal and I eat around 1,400-1,6,00 calories a day - however I also walk quite a lot/exercise and burn off 1,100-1,200 calories a day. At the moment I am losing 1lb to 2lbs a week. I don't carb count - however I no...

Type 2 and insulin can I request it?

Have to agree with above. Insulin is a last resort and isn't a quick fix. There are loads of new meds out to help with bringing sugars down and weight loss - to name two Victoza and Forxiga. You would still need to sort your eating out and eat healthier - plus on some people who don't watch what...

    A little update!

Do u have a diabetic doctor at your practice? If so maybe an appointment to talk over your concerns would be a good idea or any doctor really before you start taking the new meds. Well done on reducing your hba1c - that is going in the right direction. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Change in Diet, Change in Numbers - Should I Worry?

Your after meal is a bit high but not too bad. I think it is personal choice. If you think that increasing the Metformin would give you better control speak to your Dr. It probably is the carbs you have reintroduced, but your weight loss is fantastic. Well done. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Two months in.. T2 now told only to test twice a week

As above - ignore your nurse. You are in charge of your diabetes and without testing you don't know what is happening. Well done on getting your numbers down so far :-) Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Eye and feet checks

Your DSN should check your feet when you have your checkup. Even if it's just to check the pulse points to check circulation and you definitely should have a yearly eye exam at the hospital. What was your hba1c? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

GP has changed my strips without notifying me!!!

I would phone up today and if there are no appointments ask if a Dr can phone you today. Are you expected to buy your own meter? Ask for a prescription of your old strips until you can get sorted with a new meter. Totally unacceptable to do that without telling you. Sent from the Diabetes...

fed up and need a moan!

I hope you feel better for getting it off your chest. My eye sight was terrible last year when my blood sugars were in the 20's / 30's - but now my bloods are normal between 4 - 6 - and my eyesight is so much better. I don't low carb - far from it - but I've been walking as exercise since...

    Type-II Diabetes

To be honest I think it's a load of rubbish. Caffeine isn't good for you anyway in any form. Pmsl Andy that is funny :-) Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Retinopathy Test

Glad it went ok. The yearly test always stresses me out - always expect the worst and it's never that bad (touch wood). The Dr has me on eye drops for dry eyes and hoping for an improvement when I go back in June. Great result at keeping your BG's down - sounds like you are doing great. Sent...

    METFORMIN

Could you be talking of Forxiga? I am on it and can't be happier at the results. No massive weight loss but improvement of bloods and less insulin. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
