Just started testing, one question please.

If I take a reading before a meal, does it matter what level the bs rises to after an hour? Or is it only whether it is back to acceptable levels after two hours? That's it folks.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

My first test since getting the new meter wasn't very good at 8.2. It was below 7 when I went to bed. I've read about why that can happen. It fell to 7.3 within 45 minutes. I'm on 2x500mg Metformin and hoped this would have kept it down.

    Feel so overwhelmed

I bought the codefree yesterday with 50 extra strips. Cost about £17 for the whole kit. Excellent value, works a treat.

    Sugar tax

They should have a junk food and ready meals tax and use it to subsidise healthy eating.

    Which meter type?

Hi folks. Going to order the sd codefree meter but the site says: 1 x SD Codefree Blood Glucose Meter – stores up to 500 test results – we are offering two meter types – One reading in mmol/L and the other reading in mg/dL. You can select which meter type you want by selecting the meter from...

Type 1 erection problems in young diabetic

When I was in my fifties and had sore feet that was the first question the doc asked "Do you wake with an erection?" Well come to think of it I hadn't lately so I had blood tests and the rest is history. At 25 i did walk around with a raging hard-on.

How much weight have YOU lost?

I've lost around 17 kilos in about 11 weeks. It's all thanks to Metformin. From the day I started on it I lost all interest in sweet food and high carb pastry etc. I live on Greek salad these days. Gone up four notches on my belt and from 40 inch waist to 36. HbA1c was 67, and latest reading...

What do people on LCHF eat for breakfast?

A good quality muesli does me. Dorset Cereals mainly. I tip a probiotic yoghurt drink into it and add a milk substitute of some kind and a bit of oat bran. My favourite meal of the day. Actually, come to think of it that's not LCHF. Nice anyway.

    28yr man - diabetes

My next appointment with the diabetes nurse isn't until October so maybe I should try and find my meter. If i can't find it, does anyone know of one that is reasonable for meter plus test strips?

    mixed emotions

One thing I've often wondered is, do type 1 diabetics look on type 2 diabetics as real diabetics? Or just a bunch of people playing at it? Just curious.

    28yr man - diabetes

I have actually got a meter somewhere that I bought about 7 years ago. I stopped using it after talking to the doc. If it's a really good idea, why does every GP I've ever read on the subject say not to bother? Since going on Metformin 10 weeks ago I've taken a whole new interest in diet and...

    28yr man - diabetes

I don't understand why everyone talks about testing their BS every two hours. My GP says it's pointless as the only results that matter are over months, not a couple of hours. I'm on a very low sugar, low fat diet, so even if I had a spike there's nothing I can cut. We all know what's good and...

    Struggling

After struggling with T2 and diet/exercise for ten years. I finally agreed to take Metformin. What a game changer that was. No longer got any interest in biscuits and cake (all went in the bin) Live on Greek Salads and Thai stir fries. In ten weeks I've lost 15 kilos (119kg to 104kg), and by...
