    Type 2, need some advice

Orlando00, Don't feel ashamed, you've done nothing wrong. Wrong was done to you ! From what I've learned through this forum, the worst thing that happened was the vilifying of natural fats and the brainwashing of the public to eat more and more carbohydrates.....you know, the healthy ones...

    Low carb diet and constipation

A couple of years ago I too decided to stop drinking coffee. I normally drink about a litre a day, freshly made from ground beans. The first day was OK, but by the second day, all I wanted to do was sleep ! By the end of the first week I felt as if I was just existing in a mental fog. It was...

Type 2 no meds and now high cholesterol

This man actually manipulates cholesterol test results by altering his diet within days. Well worth a look at what he says. Cholesterol is not such a villain as has been made out. http://cholesterolcode.com/extreme-cholesterol-drop-experiment/ Well done for keeping your Blood Glucose levels...

How much testing should I do ?

Where I live in France it's pretty stress free, Alison. The doctor gives me a prescription and I just turn up at the local laboratory (after fasting for at least 12 hours, of course, so that usually means me being there at 7.30am ) after a 15 minute drive with almost no traffic on the road. I...

How much testing should I do ?

I sure did. Within 5 minutes I tested myself using my Codefree meter and got a result of 6.3mmol/l. I repeated the test an hour later and got 6.1mmol/l. So perhaps my Codefree is reading at least 0.5mmol/l higher than actual ?

How irresposible are the current diet NHS guidelines for T2 and pre diabetics?

Well, those "poor" French geese actually struggle to jump the queue to get to the corn poured into them. They are not forced. Watch it some time and you'll probably come to the same conclusion as myself.....geese are birdbrains !

How much testing should I do ?

Good Evening everyone, I've just had the results for my first HBA1c test, 5.6% or 37mmol/mol , and my Fasting Blood Glucose was 5.55mmol/l . I had my blood tested in February this year which showed a reading of 6.44mmol/l for fasting and I was then considered prediabetique. I was recommended...

    Eating to the meter

Thanks for the prompt reply. I always test within 10 minutes of rising and have done for several months now. I've just had a close look at my last months results and see that my Fasting result has always been no more than 1mmol up on my last test the previous evening...apart from the odd blip...

    Eating to the meter

Hi Folks, I'm sure this has been covered many times before because I've seen the phrase crop up frequently. But could someone please give me a full explanation of what it means ? For example, I've noticed that my fasting BG is mostly low 6's but despite having nothing but black coffee for...

How long did low carb take you to lose 15% weight

I've lost 14kg in three and a half months but my BG is, if anything slightly higher. I was getting morning readings of low 6's at first now they're averaging out at mid 6's....? Sure, the weight loss is a welcome bonus, but I really was hoping to see my BG readings dropping, not rising.

Early Retitement in France obtaining Medication

We settled in France about 10 years ago and applied for our Carte Vitales. It was actually pretty easy. You have to supply a pile of documents like birth certificate, marriage certificate and that kind of stuff. But if you ask the Ministry of Pensions (I think ?) in the UK, they will send you a...

    Complications Prediabetes

You're pretty low carb, aren't you ? Have you noticed any improvement in the neuropathy ? The reason I ask is because earlier this year I noticed distinct numbness in the ball of my right foot and along the outer edge of my big toe. But now it doesn't feel so numb ? Is this possible/likely ...

Blood Glucose readings staying the same.

Thanks everyone for the replies. AM1874, I'm going to step up the exercise a bit, I have admittedly been using the weather as an excuse not to go so far on the bike. It's not the rain that bothers me so much it's a morbid dread of having to wash the bike afterwards. That's what 50 years of...

Blood Glucose readings staying the same.

Good evening everyone. I'm Prediabetique and have been testing for the last twelve weeks or so. I've adopted the LCHF regime and I'm trying to keep the carbs to less than 50 gm a day. I've also reduced my calories by only eating one meal a day, i.e. skipping breakfast and lunch and just eating...

    Professionals

Aye, that was a bit dumb, wasn't it ? Expecting professionals to make their presence known ? I certainly wouldn't expect that for all the reasons listed above. I think that donnellysdogs is the kind of answer I was hoping to see. But really, what are we doing to our medical...

    Professionals

I'm sorry, I'd no right whatsoever to compare the complexities of caring for humans with the much more simple task of fixing cars. And I have nothing but admiration for so many of the professional in the health trade. You know what it's like, bad news is always the loudest and travels further...

Do any Nurse or Doctors read these forums ? You never hear from them. When I was in the motor trade service industry, I spent a lot of time on the various forums for the particular vehicle we were interested in. You can learn a lot from forums, not just technical stuff, but how...
