    Cheese

Check out Lidl's....then stick it in the Fridge. Good strong Basque or Asturian cheese is just the job with a wee sensation of good red wine with it.

    Cheese

Cheese ? Oh yes please ! Living in France is like being in cheese heaven. But I do find that I'm becoming very fond of a lot of Spanish and Dutch cheeses. But don't mention Mascarpone....that stuff should be banned ! It's criminally delicious. I limit myself to a teaspoon now and again but...

Large unexpected Spike. Any Thoughts ?

Hi, bulkbiker, Yes, I did double check that high test yesterday. Re-washed hands and used a different finger and got more or less the same reading. ...or maybe my body was taking me for a ride ? Distinct possibility with my body ! Still, I won't die of boredom. Thanks again.

Large unexpected Spike. Any Thoughts ?

Thanks for the reply pleinster. I think that my system is a bit slower than others, like you. I do tend to let meals....well to be exact, my only meal !....drag out a bit, so I usually test 2 hours and 15 minutes after the first bite. And yes, you could be right there, as it was really quite...

Large unexpected Spike. Any Thoughts ?

Mainly breast, but with skin. Yoghourt was home-made full fat. I re-tested today with the same amount of blackberries and yoghourt only and got readings of 6.1 before, 7.5 an hour later and after two hours, 5.9. That's more like it ,isn't it ? Thanks for the reply.

Large unexpected Spike. Any Thoughts ?

Last week, as an experiment....and probably due to pure greed !.....I ate 2 Magnum minis after having some roast pork and salad for my evening meal. I tested at 5.6 mmol/l before eating but two hours later had a reading of 11.0 mmol/l. two hours after that it had dropped to 8.2 mmol/l and a...

What is the difference between fasting and starving yourself?

Hi Dipsydo, thanks for your reply and sorry for not being able to get back to you as quickly as I would have liked. I've had family and friends descend upon me for the last fortnight so things have been a bit hectic ! But I'm very interested in your Aloe Vera regime. How do you take it ? Is it...

What is the difference between fasting and starving yourself?

I'll ask my dear wife to chaperone me in the kitchen. As far as she's concerned I can't make a cup of tea worth drinking and equally, I wouldn't trust her to make a respectable pot of coffee.

What is the difference between fasting and starving yourself?

I've only been doing this for about 6 weeks but the most surprising thing is that I've lost 6 kilos ! Only another 10 to go and I'll just be overweight not obese. And I feel great for it. I know I've not been particularly scientific about this but I've just completely cut out bread, potatoes...

What is the difference between fasting and starving yourself?

Once again, thanks everyone for your replies. So Starvation is involuntary and meals are calorie restricted. Fasting however means no meals at all which promotes hormonal changes in the body to allow stored fat to be used to survive. Starvation is like a drip feed stopping the hormonal...

What is the difference between fasting and starving yourself?

Could you tell me the difference between fasting and starving yourself ? I'm having a bit of difficulty getting my head round this. As always your opinion is much appreciated.

    Erratic Readings ?

Hi fellow bloodsuckers, Can anybody help me out with this ? At lunchtime today I took a Blood Glucose Reading 2 hours after eating a little melon and drinking my usual black coffee. I got a reading of 7.0 which I thought to be perhaps a little higher than I expected. So following the advice...

    Software to analyze results

Looks like I'm going to have to call in the grandchildren ! Fair swap, they can teach me about Excel and I'll tell them the Secrets of the Universe, the meaning of life, what Jimi Hendrix had for his third last meal, and useful stuff like that.

    Not coping

Check the labels, "Glucides dont Sucres" is Carbohydrates including Sugars. Make sure that your fromage blanc didn't have added sugar, even stuff labelled "Natur" might still have some sugar in it.

    Software to analyze results

I've been using an SD Code Free blood Glucose meter for the last month and also the GlucoNavii Software. The software's ok but it's not exactly FUN, is it ? Does anyone with a SD Code Free meter use any other software that might make it a bit easier to actually analyse the results ?

    Most significant readings

Thanks bulkbiker, once I've got myself settled into the Low carb regime I'm going to try fasting. I'll keep you posted.

    Most significant readings

Thanks Contralto, as you can see I'm getting a lot of good advice here, much appreciated....

    Most significant readings

Yes, I think I'm going to have to start being more exact about how much carbs I'm consuming with each meal then my readings would be more relevant.....hopefully ?

    Most significant readings

Thanks for that, that could be a good way to highlight any pattern.
