Intermittent fasting for weight loss and lower blood sugars.

Went to the site, but I'm still unclear what any of this has to do with diabetes... Growth hormone and testosterone therapy? Your profile says you're not diabetic, so...? Intermittent (not internal) fasting is often used to gain control over glucose levels and the clinic does tackle obesity from...

Red blotches on feet and lower legs

Hi Bizbeth, and welcome, Well, you seem to be in, so... Welcome to the community/forum! Sorry about the blotches, but you really should see someone about them: we can't diagnose on here. If getting an appointment is difficult, try taking a pic and sending that to the GP's, along with any other...

Low moods / frustration / anger

At the moment I hover between 4,5 and 6.0 mmol/l, but it's diet-only, doing low carb high fats, moderate protein. https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html might help some in that regard. But it'd be more useful if you started your own thread, as others'll be able to...

Low moods / frustration / anger

I'm a T2, but I spent years being high and undiagnosed... I was an absolute dragon. I'd rip my -very patient- husband's head off out of nowhere, the moodswings and depression were a horror... The rage-out-of-the-blue vanished into thin air when my blood sugar control became better, but that can...

    Kidney function

Like was suggested, drink water, (something between 1,5 and 2 liters a day, from what I remember), and if something's off, the nephrologist might give meds or, indeed eventually, dialysis. Try and get blood sugar control, because tackling the root cause is usually the best way to avoid...

    Kidney function

Kidneys get damaged when blood sugars are higher than preferred, so yeah... T1, T2, any type, really. It's just another organ that gets a beating when blood sugars aren't what they're supposed to be, alas. Sorry.

    Hello, I am new here

Your numbers are at the exact starting point of prediabetes... You are indeed catching it early, and I could just about kiss you for going for a meter and taking this particular bull by the horns. So far, basically, you're doing it all right: You're going to be measuring, and you're asking...

    Meals!

So, you have two diabetics in the house and picky eaters... Yeah, that can get a bit stressful at mealtimes! Good news though: Meat, provided it isn't over-processed and stuffed full of carby fillers, can help his blood sugars. It's just protein and fats, and those don't spike a diabetic...

Want to Raise Blood Sugars when Lifting

Yeah, that does sound more like the sensation of a false hypo, because you're running high all the time. Like In Response said, better blood glucose control would keep that from happening. And it would also help keep you from getting diabetic complications in the long run. You want those blood...

Congrats on the 10 pounds! Keep in mind that statins can up blood sugars, so that's something to keep an eye on. Most T2's are prescribed them when they're diagnosed because it's just "the done thing" as a preventative measure, but some of us don't actually need them, and are pretty much fine...

Hello Tate, Ah, yes, stress... It does mess with our blood sugars more than we'd like, eh. If you tell us more about your situation, we might be able to make suggestions? Current diet (including drinks, not just foods), your HbA1c and whatnot... We seem like a nosy bunch, but the more we have...

    Newbie

Glad to hear recovery is going well, as with diabetes, that can be a long haul sometimes. You know, marriage.... It's not one takes care of the other, you take care of one another. I'm pretty sure if someone'd ask her whether you look after her, she'd give it a resounding "yes", too. Best...

    Drug interactions how to check?

Interactions, side effects and contra-indications should be listed on the leaflet... Have you tried that? (If the lettering is too small, leaflets are usually also available online).

Anyone else think that a post breakfast reading of up to 16 is nothing to worry about?

I can't exactly say what your GP's reasoning is, but if I can hazard a guess: Insulin resistance is a result of your insensitivity to insulin. You become insensitive because there's so much in your system, it doesn't work/register anymore... So at a guess, they want to reduce insulin so your...

    Hello all

Hi Joppy, Can't help with insulin or the Libre, but can say hello. :) So, hello! And welcome to this merry band of, well, whatever we are. ;) Jo

    Type 2 and Loneliness

I tend to be very open about my diet, as it's not "just" diabetes but also all sorts of inflammatory issues, migraines and whatnot... I've been a guest from hell to have over for eons, because I swear I am fine on a glass of water, -and I am!- but like you said... Partaking is a social thing...
