I am a 77 year old male with Type 2 diabetes. I am married to my 72 year old wife who unfortuneately has Parkinsons. However she tends to look after me. I am very lucky but also feel downeartened as it really should be the other way round. Unfortunately I have just spent 4 days in hospital with an infection but I am recovering well.

Get well, soon. i am guessing your wife wants you to recover, quickly, too.

Hello and welcome @ProsperoB

I hope you get well quickly. Unfortunately many find being sick makes it harder to control their blood sugar levels which I suspect then makes it take longer to recover.

Get well soon.

Glad to hear recovery is going well, as with diabetes, that can be a long haul sometimes.

You know, marriage.... It's not one takes care of the other, you take care of one another. I'm pretty sure if someone'd ask her whether you look after her, she'd give it a resounding "yes", too.

Best thing you can do for both of you: take care of the diabetes. Kind of like emergencies in airplanes: Put on your own mask first, otherwise you can't help someone else. Take care of yourself as best as you can, so you can be there for her as much as you so obviously want to be, too.

Hope you feel better soon, and if you have any questions, throw them out there, it's what we're here for.
Jo
