How much weight have YOU lost?

You must be well chuffed with 58 pounds well done. I haven’t been weighing myself at all regularly, I think I’d be upset to see ups and downs. For right or for wrong I weigh myself about once a month. To be honest I’ve been very focused on my BG , I took to wearing a CGM for a few expensive but...

How much weight have YOU lost?

Paul 65 year old pre diabetic and very grateful to have found this site and low carb advice. I’m not much for weighing myself but I knew from my clothes that I was losing weight but I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived in this place a very confused pre diabetic in August. At that time I was...

Xmas day - how do you do yours ?

Merry Christmas [emoji1335] As I’m the cook I have some control on what we ate. I slow cooked a joint of beef in red wine and garlic. Served it with celeriac “roasties” , roast parsnips carrots, broccoli, sprouts & cauliflower. No pudding and a single glass of Pinot Grigio.

    Advice, please.

Hi, No advice from me , I’m only a novice but I will share with you my experience. We are similar ages , I’m 66 next birthday. I had a warning of raised BG some years ago , I stopped drinking beer and that sorted it. Unfortunately over time I lapsed and was pre diabetic at a test in July. This...

Weekend alcohol increases BG by ~0.5mmol/l for the whole week

This is interesting thank you. I was a big beer drinker but I’ve not had one since July. However I’ve switched to wine ( I don’t consume as much alcohol as I did but I drink often) I guess I’ll stop drinking, it might be the reason ( as you’ve mentioned) as to why I’m finding my base level of BG...

    Higher than expected glucose levels

Thanks. Yes under control as you say by eating as I must. That said I’m happy with my diet and enjoying it. The only thing that gets to me with regards to food is I’m eating differently to my wife which I hate . Oh well. But I’m actually enjoying this journey I’m on. It’s fascinating learning...

    Higher than expected glucose levels

Thanks for the reply. I was a beer drinker but now I stick to white wine, on average a glass every other day. I think I’ll just stop drinking, I did stop for 6 months a while ago. I’ve been using a CGM so I’m constantly testing and basically the BG is just slightly higher than I expecting. I’m...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today for the first time since diagnosis of pre diabetes in July I ate in restaurants as we were out. Breakfast was a so called breakfast omelette. It was a 3 egg omelette with bacon , sausage, mushrooms and tomato. It was very good and no serious spike. Lunch I had chicken satay and salad. I...

    Freshly Diagnosed

I don’t think I’m qualified to give advice but I can tell you what I did. I can relate to your feelings of shock and not knowing what to do , I think we all can. FYI I’m a 65 year old 1.82 metre bloke and was 102 kgs in July. Since then I’ve lost about 14kgs by going low carb and walking more...

    Higher than expected glucose levels

Thank you Yes my diet is under control, no shocks and that’s how I want it. I was actually hoping for someone to say it was a possibly good sign. I had been reading about this today and it kind of makes sense ( even though for me it’s a hope ) Presumably sooner or later if you are correct a...

    Higher than expected glucose levels

Thanks KennyA, That’s interesting, I think I might be in for a cold , I’ve got the sniffles . Yes even though my BG is raised , when consuming food ( it’s all good / trusted food) I’m getting expected rises and lowering of BG. I think I’ll do some finger prick testing , I hadn’t as the sensor...

    Higher than expected glucose levels

I’ve been monitoring my BG levels since I’ve learnt the value of doing so in this site. In fact I’ve been using a CGM on/off since early September. It’s been fantastic and has enabled me to avoid spikes ( unless I make a mistake) and to that end I’m happy. At the same time I’ve been losing...

    Seeking confirmation of Libra2 data

Thanks for the reply Autum, I “ think “ I’m glad I’ve used the CGM and it’s been eye opening. One week ( this is my guess) my body was adjusting to not being swimming in glucose and the numbers were very erratic. It’s settled now and I’m content. Much like you I have been looking for an...

    Seeking confirmation of Libra2 data

Hi all, I’m just coming up to 4 weeks using a libra2 CGM and following a low carb diet . I’m enjoying the food and I hope that everything is going well ( early days I know ) Anyway the Libra2 time expires soon and I’ll revert to finger prick testing. But I would just like to fully understand...

    Going fine but …?

So I’m a couple of weeks into this odyssey and still trying to understand what’s happening to my body. I’m using a CGM and in the main it appeared that everything was going in the right direction, I’m eating a low carb diet and I’m losing weight . Part of my reason for using a CGM is by eating /...

    A thank you and CGM’s

That’s interesting about the beans and I’ll let you know how I get on with pastry. To be honest I’m pinning for a pasty ! Here is a graph and in note 2 I ate a can of cannellini beans. I don’t eat a whole can anymore as I get too full!
