    Can snacking be bad

I have been a midnight snacker for years, thinking it ok to snack if the snack was low carb ... I now believe it is more important not to snack in order to give the blood sugar, insulin, stomach and pancreas etc etc a rest ... it's hard because hunger is the most difficult thing to master, but...

    Can snacking be bad

In one of the Jason Jung movies about fasting, he says that due to a primitive cave man instinct, when the body is deprived of food it actually releases more energy short term (to allow the cave man to go hunting) rather than less ... it's a survival instinct in man. So your "starvation" diet...

I thought it was just me

Sorry for the delay in replying, appreciate your interest. I'm just classic LCHF, based on Atkins and Gary Taubes ... cut out potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, sweets, yada yada ... my problem is I grew complacent and gave myself much too much leeway and treats, because I felt well and comfortable...

I thought it was just me

UPDATE Called my surgery today to see if I was booked for another Diabetes Clinic appointment ... was told I was down to be recalled in December, near Christmas. Nice that they are so relaxed about it all ... why does this not fill me with confidence?

I found on the Abbot website that they are not selling to new customers. ??? What sort of madness is this? Who ever heard of a successful business unableunwilling to make enough of their product to meet demand? Smells to me of a deliberate monopoly protocol by Abbot to drive the prices high ...

    Diabetes Burnout.

I'm new to this, so can't offer advice other than what you will get here, however I can recommend the daily chart idea very much ... it works for me anyway on many levels and keeps me on track monitoring medication, blood pressure, exercise etc etc. It can be enlightening to follow your progress...

    A question of fasting

I don't take medication for diabetes ... they were happy to let me try diet and exercise initially ... I told them I have been using low carb diet for years (which had kind of fallen into disrepair, what with life and all) and they made no objection. I agree no snacking between meals from now...

    A question of fasting

Hi all. I'm a newbie and so far lurk and read the forum posts ... very worthwhile ... I am in awe of the kind and helpful responses on this forum (I am used to video game forums, where those who reply are usually trolls, tiresome elites or potato heads) ... I am also fascinated by the whole...

I thought it was just me

... but I see many people here are let down by their doctors. My own experience was first of all to be abruptly informed by my usual doctor that I was now a "pre-diabetic" and given a leaflet. Advised to lose weight and take more exercise. This from a doctor who has been treating me for years...
