Low carb after years of Med's

My husband has been taking meds for approx 16 years, first metformin and for the last 4 years metformin with insulin. He began LCHF last April and has seen a significant weight loss and a reduction in his insulin intake. (Small blip over the Christmas period) but now back on track. Even over...

    Low Carb on a budget

I've written before on another thread and my point was that I don't spend as much now as I did before going LCHF, because of all the things I'm not buying!! Ready meals, cereal, rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, fruit (I bought and ate loads before, now I stick to small portions of berries ,frozen if...

    Breakfast

eggs, (any way) omlettes are good and quick, bacon, mushrooms, occasionally tinned tomatoes and sausages if you can get them with a high meat content. Some people have fruit (berries) with cream or natural full fat yogurt but I try and keep the carbs down in the morning so more for the evening...

    Eat Fat and Grow Slim

That's part of the reason for a high carb diet, trying to feed a family on a budget all the meals I cooked were high on pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, it made feeding a family affordable and then it was backed by so called 'health experts'

What LC foods do you prefer to non-LC versions

I love my coffee with cream and feeling free to eat cheese and butter...but I just can't get into dark chocolate, some days I would kill for a huge block of dairy milk so I have some berries and cream instead but still crave chocolate...and just like an addict if I give in I end up on a binge...

    Eat well for less...aargh!!

I agree but it was luck rather than good managemnet that I stumbled on the LCHF forum. Quite honestly I thought HF stood for high fibre, if I'd known it was HIGH FAT :eek: I'd never have clicked the button, well and truly brainwashed by the media, NHS and every 'diet' programme I've ever...

    Eat well for less...aargh!!

So disappointed to see Greg produce the eat well plate on this programme, while still pushing low fat alternatives. Their conclusion it's a well rounded nutritious diet! No wonder so many of us are fooled and struggle with BS as the same received wisdom is pumped out via the media. Just hope...

Bulletproof coffee, am I doing it right?

Good idea about the stevia, I'll probably use my Monkey fruit sweetner (Think that's what it's called) very expensive but I only need the tip of a teaspoon. :)

Hi , I began buying these as they were recomended byDr. Bernstein, they're 6g carb per cracker and are brilliant if constipation is a problem on LCHF. I'm Rosie and I'm a carboholic

I totally agree with you this is the perfect time for you... enjoy!! The best thing I ever did was retire (initially didn't want to as I loved my last job (low paid compared to previous job with loads of pressure) but I've now got time to prepare food and research diet plans hence stumbling on...
