Found on a Surgery Facebook Page Today

When I told the nurse at the liver clinic that I had refused medication and opted to make lifestyle changes she said that I was in the minority. It's definitely working for me.

    Carnivore Corner

I'm T2, avoiding carbs and have taken no medication since my diagnosis with an hba1c of 143. My last hba1c in September was 61 and forum members gave me lots of encouragement and advice. I have spent the last two weeks on a cruise and took the opportunity to see what trying to eat like people...

    Blood results update as promised

Hi Ziggy_w, thanks for responding. I have checked the numbers I posted and they are exactly what was printed on my report sheet. Hopefully my hba1c will be nearer to normal next time and I will have some more cholesterol numbers to put into the calculator.

    Blood results update as promised

Thanks ianf0ster, I was relieved to hear that there is no sign of inflammation of my liver and no scarring or cirrhosis. Two years ago I became jaundiced and the cause was never determined. There were no gall stones and I was tested for every virus they could think of but nothing showed up and...

    Blood results update as promised

Thanks Rachel, I was feeling quite disheartened last week when I spoke to my GP (different one to the one who didn't tell me when I was diagnosed) because I was trying so hard to get to normal levels but forum members made me see how far I have come.

    Blood results update as promised

Hi Bulkbiker, the nurse said that my total cholesterol is fine but the LDL should be lower and the Chol/HDL ratio should be less than 3.5 and mine is 4.1. If you think it's good I feel even more pleased.

    Blood results update as promised

Latest hba1c is 61 down from 143 at diagnosis with no medication. My liver function tests are all in the normal range and there is no inflammation. I had a liver scan today and there is some fat in my liver but no cirrhosis or scarring so I have been encouraged to keep doing what I have been...

GP said it can take more than two years to get normal glucose levels.

Thanks Ringi, I will get the results of my blood tests on Friday and will discuss with my GP. I felt very deflated on Thursday but hearing from forum members has made me feel much more positive about my reducing hba1c levels and the fact that I am sustaining these improvements.
