    Erratic levels

You can ring NHS 111 if your worried its like 999 for non emergencies available 24/7. It will take some time for you to get levels to settle down.

Changing your diet should give you the most benefit. Exercise is also a good thing. I'd look at making changes to your life style that you can keep forever rather than short term things that will burn you out.

Type 2 The basics - Some questions

Agree with the above and just to add to whats already been said. Q1 Should I take blood sugar levels? Before meals, after meals, and I think first thing in morning gives a overall trend. Q2 Do we testing kit on scripts? TEE2 is free with cheap strips or a Libre will give you a full picture but...

    Git

Is it chocolate or sugar your addicted to? Sainsbury's do a 85% bar that's split into 5 separate smaller packets. You could start cutting down by having a few of these smaller bars a day. Much less sugar.

    Type 2 Newly Diagnosed

You could look into getting a Libre it's expensive at around £140 for the first 4 weeks but it would give you 24/7 testing so you can see exactly what's going on with your BG. Once you're got an idea of what foods you can have you won't need to test so much.

    Type 2 Confused about Oils

I don't believe paying for cold pressed oil to deep fry is the best option as the additional benefit does not justify the greater cost. I don't go to work in a helicopter for a similar reason. Rapeseed oil stands up well to heat. Sunflower oil should be avoided. My first suggestion was an air...

    The best thing

Best thing for me is getting the wake up call I needed to start looking after myself better. Hopefully it will add years to my time with family and friends.

Neither is it the most expensive. It depends on the application.

    Type 2 Confused about Oils

I think we are having two different conversations the question was what's the best oil to put in a deep fat fryer. The problem with expensive oil is, well, it's expensive. Once it's heated up at high temperatures for an extended amount of time you may as well just burn your money.

    Type 2 Confused about Oils

I wouldn't waste money on an expensive oil for deep frying. Tesco veg oil which is actually rapeseed oil, holds up well to the heat.

    Opinions on deli meat please

It's the salt content that people have an issue with, but as your unlikely to be eating lots of high salt processed meals if your on here it should be ok. Maybe monitor your sodium intake for a few days and see how much your getting in total.

Two weeks of low carb and ketons are still at 0.2

What are no sugar chocolate drops and how many carbs do they have?

    Type 2 Confused about Oils

I don't deep fry but if I did I'd treat myself to an air fryer. Tesco veg oil is actually 100% rapeseed oil but about 1/3 of the price of the rapeseed oil in the bottle next to it with rapeseed oil written on the label.

    Newly diagnosed and struggling

One meal at a time. For breakfast, I'd ditch the cereal bar and go with an option from above. I've had, steak, prawns, tuna, eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurt, berries, mushrooms, low carb bread, cheese, nut butter, cream and some low carb pizza in the last week or so, not all at the same time. You...

    Diabetes and ED

You may find everything is connected. High blood sugars- neuropathy- ED. Try a low carb diet along with regular testing with a meter to get your blood sugar under control. Overtime this should help. My advise would be to hit this hard and straight away, be obsessed with keeping carbs out of your...
