    cgm anxiety

I have my cgm on both my pump and phone so hopefully if the phone got stolen I'd still have the pump to see the cgm on...I like the phone feature so don't have to dig out my pump everytime to check what the cgm is saying

    cgm anxiety

Interesting. Can you explain sugar surfing? I woulda thought the cgm and pump automatically corrects anyways?

5 things any newly diagnosed type 1 should know

How soon in advance do you take your bolus for lunch? It took me years to figure out the amount of carbs you take bolus for didn't matter but the pre-bolus wait for 10-15 (even 20 minutes if it's a lot of carbs) after taking the insulin to eat makes a world of difference!

    Medtronic 780g + Guardian 4

Hi there All I can say is give it a good couple weeks before u expect results and satisfaction....it really is trial and error figuring it all out! I was ready to give up after a couple days into it but glad I stuck it out. And if it's closed loop it does take awhile for the algorithm to listen...

    Medtronic 780g + Guardian 4

I started out using the Medtronic with their guardian sensors and I didn't get on with the sensors v well, can't remember which version but the calibration was the worst! And also the adhesive I got a major rash from! I have since switched to xslim pump and dexcom sensors when the warranty...

I'll have to give them a go! Many thanks for that

    Slimfast

Yes I do have the shaky, dizzy symptoms when I go hypo thankfully

    Slimfast

Thanks for that. I might try some low carb ones since if I do a protein lunch like eggs with chicken and don't take the bolus insulin I don't have a problem. It seems to be the quick acting carbs I have a problem with. The slimfast shakes have 15g of protein so I'm surprised they have that effect.

    Slimfast

Thanks for your reply 250ml shake prepared is 32g carbs with 21g sugar. I'm half guessing that the sugar is the problem. The same think happens if I have a donut for breakfast. Maybe slimfast is just not compatible to type 1s I only did 2 days of it so the weight loss hasn't been the problem...

    Slimfast

Good evening Has anyone else with type 1 on insulin tried slimfast diet successfully?! If I pre bolus (on pump) 10mins prior then have the shake I'm ok for the first couple hours and then I start to hypo so wondering if it just dosen't work for us type 1s or if anyone has any tips they can share?

    No background insulin, nighttime hypos

When you are type 1 first of all you have a honeymoon period where there is still some insulin working is maybe why you aren't on any background insulin and getting hypos. Also when I was pregnant I wasn't considered hypo until 3.5 and didn't treat until 3.5 and only tested with 15g carbs...

Anyone know the difference between too high basal insulin and bolus absobtion issues.

Aww....your story sounds very familiar to mine in the days before my pump! I was on levemir 2 a day and then they decided 3 times a day. In the end the consultants decided levemir just wasn't working for me. Then went on a pump (you only are one continuous quick acting insulin) and and then 2...

    Newly Diagnosed Type 1

That is interesting @Sandra_Azucar I've had type 1 for over 25 years and the pump now 6 years and even tho the pump and CGM were miracles for me too I still feel there is room for improvement! I'll have to look into the coeliac diet. Is there good websites to refer to?

    Early Signs of Pregnancy.

My blood sugars started doing swings very early on (high and low) and had this awful metallic taste before I even took the test. Hope this helps but seeing this post is over 2 weeks old you probably already have your answer! :)

    High HbA1C around 8%

I agree as well! 44 is a very awesome number. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and 48 is the best number I've gotten in my life! Don't get too discouraged by an occasional spike as they will happen. My nurse said it's the staying there for all day is what does the damage. And the walks after meals will...

In the past week I've had 4 infusion set with problems. I use the tandem 90 degree 6mm sets. Mostly happens in the evening, all sudden my BG start going up and bolus with dinner do not work and even tho I'm adding units not lowering my BG! End up being 18-20 within a hour an the only thing that...

    COVID and Type 1

Tough decision....but personally I would be free to go as I had Covid in December before jabs came out and having type 1, I only had a mild version and my diabetes didn't suffer any more than having a common cold. My BG went up to 16 for a couple days and just took a 20% increase basal and it...
