    Type 1 T1, just got a tattoo

Thank you all for your suggestions. Adding a picture of my tattoo below. The tattoo artist suggested I use Johnson’s baby lotion, has anyone tried that?

    Type 1 T1, just got a tattoo

Thanks for the tip! Will normal baby lotion work? That’s what my artist suggested. Or petroleum jelly?

    Type 1 T1, just got a tattoo

Hi! I have type 1 diabetes and I just got a tattoo. I was just wondering if there are any special precautions we have to take when it comes to after care to ensure it heals properly/ doesn’t get infected?

    Bullying outside

Usually what happens in my country for such situations is that people just get cops involved to scare the individual(s) or there is a huge fight (a gang war of sorts) I agree that this may not be the best solution. But your options seem limited to: 1. Enduring the bullying by ignoring those...

    Bullying outside

Perhaps if you need to go there for a longer period of time you could go with someone? Ask your friend to accompany you so that they don’t pick on you? If they’re younger than perhaps a local cop or some other figure of authority could scare them a bit?

    Depression post diagnosis

Oh. There are no DSNs in my country. I have an endocrinologist and the dieticians and consultants offer really poor services here. I was diagnosed in NY so I have been following the advice given there even in my country.

    Depression post diagnosis

I was diagnosed with diabetes 5 months ago. I didn’t have depression before my diagnosis. It just feels like nothing is enough and like diabetes is taking over every single aspect of my life. Would prefer to speak more about this over PM as it is personal.

    Depression post diagnosis

I was on them for a month but had to be weaned off because I developed gastroparesis and the meds made it worse.

Though I have been on medication too and have had counselling, I have not found either to be effective. I feel like I’m out of options

    Diabetes and depression.

Hello Charlotte. Even I was diagnosed only a few months ago. In the beginning you just feel lost and overwhelmed. All you can do is take it one day at a time. When I was diagnosed I was on 42 units of insulin a day (8 novorapid/ 18 lantus). A few months later I am now on 11 (2+2+1 novorapid/ 6...

    Bullying outside

Hey. This sounds like a scary experience. I have a few questions: 1. Are all the kids older than you? 2. Are you the only one they have picked on or do you know anyone else in your neighbourhood who has had the same problems? 3. Are you usually alone when they pick on you? If it routinely gets...

    Dating with T1

Hi Haresh! That may be true but the incidence as a whole is quite less due to which the quality of healthcare and advice here is quite poor. I was diagnosed is New York and the care there was a million times better than what is offered here. My diet plan is pretty simple. I eat the same number...

    Dating with T1

Thank you so much for your kind words! I was very upset when I was diagnosed but it was actually a lot of the testimonials on this forum that gave me hope that my situation is what I make of it. I’ve been trying to do my best to control my numbers and become a fitter and better version of myself

    Dating with T1

Actually type 2 is more common here. Because of the size of our population the number of cases of type 1 diagnosed may be high but the overall percentage of the population is low. Many people have never heard of it at all and I’ve received all kinds of advice like “stopping insulin and walking...
