Anyone else planning on trying Thiosulphate supplement after research published in nature last week?

Thanks, Yes, it is Thiosulphate that is used medically to combat cyanide poisoning, and that is what they have been giving to the mice.

Anyone else planning on trying Thiosulphate supplement after research published in nature last week?

I was taking on board your advice that Thiosulphate will immediately react with stomach acid. My PPI means I don't have a lot of HCL, so maybe some will be absorbed orally. I want Thiosulphate in my bloodstream (which I believe will be perfectly safe in small amounts), not SO2 in my belly...

Appreciate your concern oldvatr................I'm seriously reflecting on my plans. Might get an aquarium so I can use the Thiosulphate.

Anyone else planning on trying Thiosulphate supplement after research published in nature last week?

Thanks oldvatr................I'm on a proton pump inhibitor, so some may be absorbed orally, but may see if I can try the transdermal route. I personally feel sulphate is generally good, sulphites are bad, so planning to take plenty of B12 and Molybdenum as well.

    peanuts

A lot of people feel that peanuts can stall weight loss, and not as healthy as tree nuts. Peanuts are legumes, not nuts, so they have slightly weird effects on metabolism. I do have some dry roasted peanuts at times, and no huge effect on my blood sugars.

Hi, my name is Jennifer -- new here

keep it up Jennifer. I am on low carb high fat for last 4 months, Hba1c down from 10.5 (92) to 6.0 (42). Average 50-60 grams carbs per day, struggle to get lower. Taking too many supplements to mention, and have managed to drop one Metformin tablet and one Gliclazide. Diabetes cannot be cured...

Would you take part in this trial?

My thinking is that this must work like the endobarrier. Burning the duodenum doesn't create new cells that absorb glucose, it makes the duodenum dysfunctional, so nutrient rich food hits the ileum, which is known to improve BG control (this is how gastric bypasses work). There is research in...

Just Been Sequestered Onto A Desmond Course

What is a Desmond course? My type 2 was diagnosed 17 years ago, so that's probably why I've never done one.

Anyone else planning on trying Thiosulphate supplement after research published in nature last week?

I thought the research bulletin last week would generate huge interest, but can't find any posts on it. If you didn't see it, it described research in mice suggesting that diabetes can be controlled much better if you boost an enzyme in mitochondria in fat cells called thiosulphate...

Cyanide ingredient could lead to new type 2 diabetes treatment

The research is based on Sulphate biochemistry, something I looked into myself about 20 years ago for a different area of medicine (I'm a doctor). The paper suggests that lean mice make more TST in fat cells. TST is an enzyme we all have, otherwise known as Rhodanese, and levels can be boosted...

My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

I've always been overweight, but started seriously low-carbing in Feb to avoid going on insulin. Lost a stone in first 6 weeks, but only 5 pounds in last 10 weeks. I still have to lose 2 1/2 stone to get to my target, but you know what, I'm not that bovvered. The whole focus of this forum is to...

Why Libre sensors are often inaccurate - my theory

On my second sensor only........ First one, I inserted late in evening, when BG low, would not activate at all for nearly 24 hours, then consistently measured 0.5 below BG. Second one, i inserted when BG was high (for me) at about 9.0............has been in for 3 days, and always measuring 0.5...

    Freestyle libre

Trouble is, I am on my second libre, and still use my finger prick tests nearly as much, to calibrate the libre, as it is simply not accurate and every sensor is different.

    My Freestyle Libre test

On my second libre............not perfect so far. First one (few weeks ago), consistently read about 0.5 below my blood meter, until the last few days, when they came closer together. New one is very frustrating (3 days in), is reading higher than blood, but not consistent ie blood 4.5, libre...

Poll: Has LCHF Cured Your Hay Fever?

Yes, LCHF since February, no symptoms at all so far (usually hay fever starts for me end of April). May also be the various supplements I am taking and megadoses of probiotics..........who knows?

    Lost Control

yesterday had 120 gram bar of Cadbury's with daim, in about 3 minutes, BG went from about 5.0 to 10.0 over 2-3 hours. Back on track now though..........these things happen.

    Dawn phenomenon potential solution

I am type 2, low carbing, used a libre for 2 weeks and found that BG was usually about 5.0 on waking, but crept up to 7.0 even with no food/drink. Alcohol the night before definitely helps, but cider vinegar did not help. Love the walnuts idea.........will definitely try it.
