Transition to real food post newcastle diet

Not quite 3 weeks post ND. Like you @Steve50 , I've found my BG levels have risen since LCHF started, albeit still acceptable. I have managed to lose a little more weight this week so far (2lbs from my best at end of ND) and I go to the GP's tomorrow for my first lot of blood tests since...

NHS Direct doctor says... NO testing when taking Metformin

Having been prescribed 4 x 500mg of Metformin and 4 x Gliclazide daily, I am now on a significantly reduced Metformin only (1 x 500mg daily) after 8 weeks of Newcastle diet and now LCHF. I am testing regularly to monitor the impact on how various meals affect my BG levels while I am sorting out...

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

2 weeks now since I ended ND. Weight has plateaued still (88.2kg) , so no gain - although some more loss would be desireable. My BG are up overall though. Often in the mid to high 5's, even first thing in the morning. Nothing above a 7 after a meal though, so balanced I guess, just not the 4.5's...

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

There's also the Exante shakes (and bars) that I used. With current offers they work out between 95p & £1 per shake/bar.

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

Hi @Steve50 Only this morning my wife & I were discussing the potential benefits of adopting more of a 5:2 pattern of eating for the longer-term. I'll stick with LCHF a little longer (blood tests booked for next week with adoctor's review a week after that - the first since I started on this...

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

I'd echo the above comments ... the posts will certainy give an indication of what lies ahead if you follow the ND by whatever method - plateaus in weight loss, minor short-term setbacks, overall improvements and how, when looking ahead it seems daunting but when looking back, not so bad after all.

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

I'm a little disappointed after almost 2 weeks on the post - NP phase of LCHF - today my weight is still the same as my best (lowest) after some 1-2kg ups & downs (need to get portion control sorted beter, esp. at weekends), but my BG readings are averaging more too. 5.8 this morning where I was...

Great results and the same sort as I achieved too...it's a great morale boost when you start to doubt if you can stick it out.

    Hard to get appointments

I have an opposite experience. I can usually get in to my surgery the same day if I see any GP, my own GP within 3-4 days depending on when in the week I check. Phlebotomist is within a week, same for practice nurse appointments. My surgery also uses the Patient Access system where I can...
