    Spinach question

Another one for a salad constituent, it's also chopped up in a recipe I use for home-made beefburgers (along with feta cheese, tomato, onion, garlic, salt & pepper).

Transition to real food post newcastle diet

Well, 1 week off the ND and into LCHF, along with entertaining & feeding visitors and trying to sort out portion sizes, etc. for my own needs my weight has gone up, down and then settled at 3/4lb higher than the end of ND so, all-in-all, not too bad for the first week of transition. Some meals...

    Bariatric surgery

In my mind even more reason to have a go at the Newcastle Diet as a first option rather than undergoing surgery. The surgeon's belief that your diabetes medication needs could be reversed are promising - if you have the willpower to follow the regime. Surgery could always be a fall-back option.

    Bariatric surgery

Before undergoing something as drastic as surgery might I suggest you look at the research carried out at Newcastle University in 2011 under Professor Taylor? The subsequent data collated after others have changed their lifestyle & dietary habits evidences that some can benefit without gastric...

Which drink product - Newcastle Diet?

I have just completed 8 weeks on the ND regime using Exante products...don't worry about the carb content. The BG levels settle down remarkably within a few days, literally. In fact, Prof Taylor makes reference to that fact in his summary document, "Although Optifast was used in the study, this...

Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

;) Just using up fridge contents after guests at the weekend - overstocked. Now meals are prepared with so many fresh ingredients I've got to get a handle on quantities to buy, etc.

Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

I've done just that to monitor my BG response. My wife & I shared one roll with half a 4 egg creamy omelette with Philadelphia, smoked salmon & butter fried asparagus tips folded inside each. Very yum.

Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

I had to work away from home yesterday and checked out a Lidl - they were in stock, so I bought 12! Loads in their bakery section, so I haven't deprived any other Blackpoolers! Yet to try one as I only finished ND last Wednesday and this is the first opportunity to access a Lidl store (nearest...

How much weight have YOU lost?

After 8 weeks on the Newcastle-style (VLC) diet I have lost a total of 39lbs from 16st 9lbs to 13st 12lbs and my BG & BP readings have improved massively. My medication is also down from 11 tablets a day to 3. Now I have to a) keep it off and b) lose a little more. As from today I migrate on to...

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

I'm hoping my transition from the meal replacements shouldn't be too difficult as I was on approx 19g fat, 55g carbs & 51g protein for a day's 600 cal intake. I plan to take the carbs lower to continue to lose weight.

Newcastle diet starting Monday, done it once who gonna join me on my journey??

Such sad news, a stark reminder that this condition can have dire consequences if not managed and an incentive to us all. Not too sure yet how things will progress. I am on my last day of ND and after having very simple food intake choices with the meal replacements for the last 8 weeks, I am...
